Post subject:  best or strongest Tow hitches

Hello all,

I was wondering who makes the best or strongest Tow hitches?

I have seen so many web site listing them from $170 to $380.
I am not really sure who to go with, or what the good brand names are.

I know I can install this my self. it looks to be 6 bolts i think.
Next is to wire for Trainer lights. I take it there are plug and play harness for this right?
I am not looking to a braking system, as only with to tow under 2000 pounds, mosty Uhaul rentals.

I used the Mopar hitch because none of the others definitely said they would fit the KK. It is easy to install but you'll need a long-handled ratchet or some kind of breaker bar (I used a 12" piece of pipe over my ratchet handle) to undo the bolt that secures the track bar bracket. That sucker was in there tight! Other than that - piece of cake. I think the Mopar wiring harness is probably a 7-pin type and you'll need a 7 to 4 pin adapter. But the hitch does have a bracket on it to hold the plug.

I think the Mopar hitch would be your best bet. Also if you have any issues with the hitch or wiring you can get it serviced/warranted at your local dealership (unless you mess up installing it)

I had the Hitch/Tow package installed when I got my truck and it's been great. I've done some towing with it and used the front tow hooks to get me out of some deep mud.

Ok good to know...
I will save up the factory unit.
I have a 3 foot breaker bar, so this should be easy...

Thank you both for the Imput

the factory hitch fit very tight around the spare tire. I doubt anything else will fit

Not that it's important, but I got my Class-3 hitch from Uhaul..... $200-something (i forget now)... and have towed like 6 cars so far (up and down hills, out of ditches, etc). Always go back and check the bolts and mounts... never moved yet! Guess it must be good so far. :)

don't be so quick to loctight the bolts. if somethings does happen and you need to remove the hitch for any reason you'll never get it off. there should be torque specs on the bolts. just torque them down right and you won't have a problem.

This is why they make cheater bars or big impacts  Couldn't live with out my IR 2135(1/20 and 2141(3/4) at work

I have a 3 foot 1/2 drive breaker bar...
If it does not come off with this I add my 9 foot bar to that.
Never fear removal....

If that hitch needs to be removed there is a big issue....
Sorry torqueing is for parts that break, warp or are soft.

For everything else we have loc tight.....
Maybe Blue will be ok....

blue will be fine, just stay away from the red stuff

I love the red stuff...

I have used it for most projects for 18 years...
It really helps to keep things in place.

But Blue is just as good for 90% of the projects as well...

yeah, the red works good if you never have to touch it again... this is why I love working on new equipment and not the old stuff

I love my Draw-Tite Class IV hitch...if I had a KK I'd buy a Reese or Draw-tite classIV or III hitch. They are the same company...Hidden HItch is too.

Ditto here also. It must have been used at the factory since they put it on. (factory tow package)

And when I got the OEM skid to install, and had to take the 6 hitch bolts out I used 1/2 inch drive and had to muscle it a little but the bolts came out. Then the 6 graded bolts that were supplied with the OEM skid had red locktite already on them from Mopar. I think the torque spec was 100 foot pounds but not positive now.

I installed the MOPAR hitch myself, and the bolts had locktight on them in the package.
