There really is no need to let the air out. In sand you just need to remember to never take your foot off the gas. Once you let out the gas and slow down that's when the weight of the vehicle comes into the play and then you sink and get stuck.

Also make sure you have traction control off. Letting the tires break loose and spin will help you get the traction you need. Leaving traction control on will just give you wheel hop and slow you down.

what part of the OBX were you at? i frequent the banks quite often!

We went on vacation this past week and had the first change to do some offroading. I went out to drive on the beach at the outer banks and forgot to let the air out of the tires (oops). The KK handled very well. When we pulled out I got into some deeper sand and slowed way way down, I thought we were going to get stuck, but she pulled through....next time I need to remember to let some air out. It was all really fun though.

We stayed in Kitty Hawk, but drove up to Corolla for the beach drive in the horse sanctuary. Fun times!

Yeah just push the ESP button. The ESP light will stay ON on the dash to let you know it's off.

Well please note.
on my KK that has 1800 miles we took a 1200 miles trip this last week.
Going south we got 20.4 MPG max
coming home and going North we got 19.4 Max MPG.

1000% stock KK

now it has just over 3000 miles. I am happyish...

The only thing I did was add in 39PSI of air to cold tires, they went up to 44 PSI on the day that hit 115 degrees out side. This was well with in range of the tires we have..

For Traction control, you want it on when driving on a paved road at all times.
All other times, i am not sure about.
but it sounds like in sand it is good to be off... I will not be able to test this.
i think others have..

Traction control is a new thing for most folks.
I think there might be some unknows and bad marketing.

I like it for my Jeep. and that is all i will say about it.

We will start with the air intake. I bought the scan gauge II with the air intake to monitor avg mpg (among other things). I didn't get the chance to monitor the mpg without the intake, but my average MPG with the AEM Brute Force is 19.5 MPG, I think that is pretty good. That is with 245/70 R16 Firestone Dest. Stock KK's do very well. Add a AT tire and they will do wonders

How do you turn it off? Push the ESP button?

If you go off-roading you want traction control off. Traction control will actually slow you down and get you stuck. It applies the brakes if it feels a wheel is "slipping". You want wheel spin so that you can get traction. If traction control engages it will apply the brakes and try to slow you down until you get your traction back. When you put the truck into 4wd LOW it automatically turns off traction control. In 4wd AUTO its up to you to turn it off.

My brother and I were at the beach and a nasty little storm came in. Well this guy with his lifted 250 sank his wheels completely in the sand trying to get his jetski trailer out. My brother pulled him out in 4 wheel Low with his 99 Cherokee. He pulled it forward first and looked a little like he was going to get stuck, Then stopped backed up about 2 feet then turned about 45 degrees to catch some fresh sand and yanked him right out.

I just wanted to give some input.... I rather have a non stock KK... But all mods I do have to be under the wife Radar for now... I am jealuos
