| Post subject: | Lifetime Warranty |
A while back, I decided that I wanted to purchase the Lifetime Bumper to Bumper warranty for my KK. I set the money aside to purchase it. I contacted the dealer where I purchased my KK and inquired about it. They gave me a price, but it was way higher than chryslerwarrantys.com. I finally told them that if they would match the internet pricing, that I would purchase the warranty, they would not match it. A few months ago, I went to the local Jeep dealer. It's actually a GMC/Jeep dealer, but they have now lost their Jeep franchise. They wanted over $3,000 for the warranty. With Chrysler going bankrupt, I waited to see what was going to happen. Now, I'm approaching 36,000 miles, I think I have like 34,500 in the KK. Today, I go into the local Dodge/Chrysler dealer (they are not yet a Jeep dealer) Man, that place was dead, there were only 2 people in the whole building. They were unaware of any Lifetime Bumper to Bumper warranty, but called their warranty guy and he came in to talk to me. So I tell the guy that I've been looking on the internet for the Bumper to Bumper warranty and that if he will sell it to me for $1,800 that we have a deal. He accepts the offer. Sooo, now I have the Lifetime MaxCare bumper to bumper warranty wtih $100 deductable. With my luck, I'll probably never have need to use it. I had a 70,000 mile warranty on my KJ that I never used. They gave me a refund on it when I traded it in for the KK |

Just a word of caution for buyers that dealers are independent companies from Chrysler and can basically charge anything they want for the extended warranties. It is always a good idea to shop around including calling Chrysler Service Contracts directly or going to their website to get the MSRP price of the warranty. http://servicecontracts.chrysler.com/ or http://www.jeep.com/sc I had a situation where I was quoted $1700 for a 5yr/70K warranty from the dealer, but I called Chrysler Service Contracts directly and the price was around $1220. Also, another point is that typically people roll it into the loan if purchased at the dealer and immediately start paying interest. Chrysler offers interest free payment plans for as long as 3 years I believe. |

| Post subject: | Re: Lifetime Warranty |
Today, I'm taking my son to the local junior college for classes. We are going across some speed bumps and the front end seems a little soft. I mentioned to my son that I might need new front struts. This afternoon, I had my Jeep in the shop across the street from where I work for an oil change. I always take them a 5 quart container of Mobil 1 oil and a good oil filter. They always change the oil, do a good inspection and rotate the tires for $20. It's a good deal for me. Today, they point out to me that I have a front strut leaking. So I call the local Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep dealer and tell the service dept that I have a lifetime warranty, and ask if the struts are included in that warranty and can I make an appointment to get them replaced. The service guy takes my VIN and then comes back and tells me that not only does my Jeep not have a warranty, but I can't buy one because of the mileage on it now. I was like WTF? Then they put me through to sales, who puts me back through to service, who puts me back through to sales... and some guy promises to look up my warranty and call me back.... he never calls back. When I get back into town, it's about 7 PM, I go to the dealer and start telling some sales guy that I want to speak to someone that can resolve my problem... finally he has me talk to the "sales manager"... who tries to tell me that he can't look up my information in his computer and that the only people that can look it up are gone for the night, but he will try to look it up tomorrow and call me back... so I tell him that I think it's BS that he can't find my warranty in his computer... it's a Chrysler factory warranty, not a third party. So I leave, go to my office, get on my computer, and look up the transaction at my bank, print it out, then take it back to the dummy and give him the transaction number, the amount, and the date of the transaction... I give him the printout, and tell him that I've just made his job a whole lot easier and that I still can't believe he can't find that information and I found it in about 2 minutes. Then the jerk tries to tell me not to insult his intelligence... LOL.. I told him I wasn't trying to insult him, just trying to make his job a lot easier.. so he says "well, you're doing a pretty good job of insulting my intelligence right now" WTF? I told him that the other local GMC/Jeep dealer never had a problem with looking up my warranty, they just used my VIN... then he tells me that they are no longer a Jeep dealer, and they lost their franchise because they couldn't take care of their customers... I finally had enough and left, with a promise of a call tomorrow from them. Then I talk to one of my co workers and come to find out.. this sales manager has only been working there for about a month. He was the general manager of the local Hyundai dealer..... that was a new dealership..... that just closed their doors totally a month ago. Ha ha haaaaaa Wait til I see that jerk tomorrow.... |

| Post subject: | Re: Lifetime Warranty |
Ok, so I look on the internet and get the number for Chrysler warranties and call them. I give them my VIN and last name. They tell me that I have the Lifetime Maximum care warranty. Then they give me the policy number. Then I call the dealer back and speak with the same service guy that I spoke to yesterday. He tells me that he puts my VIN and name in his computer and there is no warranty. So I tell him that I've spoken to Chrysler, give him the warranty number and he says he will call me back. A little while later he calls me back, tells me that he found that I had a warranty.... that he was looking at the wrong screen, but that there is a problem. He says that the warranty screen says my name is incorrect and also that he enter in strut as parts covered and it tells him that it's not covered. So then I tell him that I'm looking at Jeeps Warranty web page, and if I click on Maximum Care, Coverage, Suspension, that I see struts listed as are strut mounts, bushings, etc. So then the jerk proceeds to tell me that under the extended coverage, there is a $150 diagnostics fee? WTF? I told that I did not see any diagnostics fee listed on the warranty page... he says he will call back. Now this all really makes me want to go over there and buy a vehicle and have it serviced there, right? Stay tuned |

So it takes them 1.5 labor hours to see that a strut is leaking |

| Post subject: | Re: Lifetime Warranty |
The dealer called back.. when I was talking to him earlier I suggested he call the same 800 number that I called about the warranty... he did. he said that I have the Maximum Care warranty and to please bring it in to get the struts changed.. he is trying to tell me that it's because someone entered my last name incorrectly on the contract. My last name is McMillion They put Mc Million WTF? So I made an appointment for next Tuesday at 9 AM... oh, and I reminded him that my Maximum care warranty provides a rental vehicle and to please have that ready. LOL I'm still waiting for the sales guy to call me back. I just can't wait to speak with him! |

What a hassle. This is why I hate dealers. I had thought about getting the lifetime bumper to bumper, but |

Today I had the appointment to get the struts replaced under my lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. It was for 10 AM. I forgot all about the appointment until just prior to 10 AM, and was hurrying to get to the dealer. At about 5 after the service manager calls to make sure we didn't forget the appointment.. that was nice. and when we get there, he has a rental arranged for us, and tells us that he's going to wash the car, clean the inside, and fill the tank up with gas. ha ha.. no problem so far.. I'm liking that tank of gas.. |

lol holy cow.. Quote: then he tells me that they are no longer a Jeep dealer, and they lost their franchise because they couldn't take care of their customers.. I wonder why that was?? rofl..It sounds like they're still having trouble but atleast it sounds like someone in the mix is trying to make someone in the mix come good with it i have an aftermarket warranty, have to renew it every 35k but at 500 down on renewal (it was about... 750? initially, and 125-150? deductible per repair) i've gotten my money out of it so far. 4 window regs at the same time for 125 seemed like a good deal it basically doesn't cover the things that i don't need it to cover, coils, shocks, lightbulbs, windshield wipers, it's basically a hub to hub and through the drivetrain and electrical warranty |

hrogi wrote: any update??? ![]() nope, except to call and tell me they found the leaking strut. They apparently had to order them. I'm on the second day of the rental car. I would guess they would have it repaired tomorrow, but I'm not sure about parts availability with all the auto manufacturers going bankrupt, and lots of parts suppliers going out of business. If I don't hear from them tomorrow, I'll go over and see what's going on. |

It's a lifetime warranty and is transferrable to another owner, should I sell the Jeep. That should add somer resale value. The deductible is $100. I'm sure I'll get my money back many times over by the time it's all over with. It pretty much covers everything mechanical and electrical on the Jeep. |

picked the Jeep up today. They replaced the front struts. Man, this thing sure rides a lot nicer now with new struts. I should probably have the rear shocks replaced too, but they don't seem to be causing any problems. sooooooo... 1 set of struts replaced, plus a rental car for 3 1/2 days cost me $100. Not too bad. |
