what's everyone using? I saw a pic that someone posted here of a plug with a different type of tip. How well do those work? also, anything I need to be aware of when changing the plugs? I saw the write up here. Looks like all I need is a 10 mm wrench, and a 3/8 ratchet and extension and a 5/8 plug socket. anything else? |

You can use any plugs you want ... People will give you their opinions all day long on what they think is best. It's up to you and how much you want to spend on them. |

Start with Factroy plugs. Do not go for crap like Split fire or E-3. stick with what works and is cheap... |

Why are the E3's crap? I ran those and never had any issues with them. I know a few other people who have them and never had any issues with them. What is "cheap" hrogi? You can get Bosh or NGK plugs starting at like $3 a plug. Spark plugs are "cheap" in general. Did you know the "Mopar Performance" plugs are made by Bosh ... |

I am glad they worked for you, but until they get an OEM rating, I will stay clear of them. Cheap is from $1 to $4 for most motors. These are 30K plugs, so they should be cheap for this reason. Some motors will need a high end plug, but they last 100K miles. Also Bosch make OEM grade parts. Who uses E3 spark plugs from the factory? Once they get an OEM contract, maybe I will give me personal blessing. |

I have autolite plats in mine right now and they work just fine. They were 2.50 a plug IIRC |

yeah, the E3 is the one that someone posted a pic of recently, but no results. How about the pulstar plugs? Those things are about $25 each. http://www.pulstarpulseplugs.com/ there's a lot of data at sparkplugs.com that shows they may work well. |

hrogi just because is isn't used at the factory doesn't make it junk. NGK aren't used at the factory, are they junk also? What about Denso? What about Autolites? |

Autolite might be OEM plugs... when I asked the dealer about plug replacement, he said 60K. When I told him that the owners manual states 30K, he gave me a quote of about $120 to replace the plugs, $95 of that being their labor. When I told him that I thought I'd do it myself, he said that the OEM plugs are made by Autolite, and to just buy a good set of Autolite plugs and install them. |

did he hear them through his car radio or a ham or CB radio, do you know? That's pretty wild that it would cause that much RF. I mean the only thing that's changed is the spark, and that should be contained inside the cylinder. You'd think that would be a good RF shield. However, maybe they change something in the spark coil or the computer that caused the noise? That's just plain weird. |

I don't think I have my stock ones to look at. When you pull yours to replace them see what they say on them. |

they were the autolite iridum extremes that i could hear through my radio it was almost bearable after i put in brand new coils. Almost it seemed like the KJ didn't have enough juice to push the plugs even with new coils so it was feeding back, atleast that was my personal explanation for it since most iridiums have really good ceramics i ended up throwing them away because they had the screw on contacts but they would have been good plugs, they ran VERY well, perhaps they would do better in the KK's, perhaps the KK has a better capability to drive them or at least a better filtered radio but nah, didn't run any E3's on a side note, if i remember right, NGK irids were OEM in the older KJ's |

Mike, I never said their are Junk. So please watch what you post when it comes to what people really say. NGK is Mazda Facotry source for Plugs and wire. Toyota also uses Denso for most of all it parts like this. How long has Autolite ben around and how long has E3 been around. Once E3 is around for for 30 years I will give them a chance.... Sorry, but after chatting with a Rep and tester for E3 at a trade show last year and hearing about a huge failure rate and how he would never use them. That really set in on me. Companies and fix things, so I just said, I will not use them till an OEM picks them up. Then I will know for sure, they have fixed there issues. |

Then I will know for sure, they have fixed there issues. An E3 Rep and tester told you that the plugs had a huge failure rate? That don't make sense. Why would a factory rep at a trade show tell you that his product was junk? Normally, they are telling you just the opposite |

Did the noise appear after you put the plugs in or after you put new coils in? tried them before and after I put new coils in, they're just noisy as **** If a MSD conversion wasn't as expensive as it is, I would have kept them and tried them with higher voltage sorry if I confused you, i mentioned the coils because as coils age the less capable they are of driving certain high performance plugs which causes feedback in the system which (sometimes, not always) is what you hear in your electronics, other times it's simple RFI (electrical radiation) that's a characteristic of the design of the plug after i replaced the coils I ran the same plugs I tested prior to the new coils again for ~1000 miles - the autolite double plats quieted down a lot, the autolite irid Xtremes quieted down, but not much - they ran great, but i couldn't stand to listen to the popping and threw them in the garbage out of the 4 sets of plugs I tested they were the loudest but that doesn't mean that they'ed be that way in a KK, but I'd be surprised if they weren't, the KK and KJ aren't THAT different when it comes to the nature of the ignition system to answer your question twice, the new coils quieted down the autolite irid X's but they were still unbearably loud |

I have no experience with E3 so I can't comment on them. However, from working on high end european cars, I know the following cause missing and other driverabliy problems. - Spit fires - Bosch Platinum anything (+2, +4 ect....) I am sure someone here knows more then me, but I have had the best luck with bosch supers or silvers, NGK, or Denso. I use supers or Denso depending on my app. However I havn't heard anyone that has used E3s say bad things about them. |
