bettsyboy,
Is there a way in the StarScan to see if a rig is a manual transmission or an automatic?
The reason I ask is after a flash update for the A/C, My door locks won't auto-unlock any more. I think the system is looking for a "Park" position before unlocking the doors. As you know, a Manual transmission has no "Park" position. All the auto-lock and auto-unlock settings have been verified by 2 dealerships and neither one can figure out why they are not working.

your KA knows its an automatic. Some things are just too embeded to screw around with. Even if you riped out your auto and put in a manual transmission, your truck, to your computers would still be an automatic.

Just to clarify... You have been to 2 dealerships and both confirm the settings are correct and the vehicle is not working properly.

if they can't explain it then its not right... ride them for warranty it could be a tipm, bad module or something, but its covered by basic. Even something like auto unlocking door locks should work properly until the end of warranty.

if you are out of warranty, then I wouldn't worry about it too much, but you might want to do the old disconnect the battery, reconnect the battery... you never know... you just never know.
*if that screws up your rig its not my fault*

I can tell you that on a very generic search on dealerconnect with the info from your sig, there are no related tsb's or bullitens about it.

1. I have a manual trany.
2. Yes, 2 dealerships have confirmed settings.
3. Still in warranty.
4. Tried the battery disconnect to no avail.

There is another KA owner with the same issue after the same A/C flash (again with a manual trany.) on another forum. The flash was TSB #18-027-08 REV. A (Torque Converter Shudder Or Erratic AC Performance Or AC Intermittently Blows warm air during drive cycle"
They also replaced the A/C- heater control panel in the dash.
Part # 55111980
The original flash was for an automatic. Because mine is a manual trany, I was wondering if the flash caused the rig to think it is an auto now?
They have been working on it for almost a year now and I'm getting tired of driving 45 miles for each new try.

First auto-lock has to be enabled.
Then auto-unlock has to be enabled.
When you drive 15mph or more the doors auto-lock.

In a rig with an automatic trany;
When you come to a stop, put your rig in park and open the drivers door. All the doors and back hatch unlock. I have also heard of the doors unlocking when the key is turned off and removed.

In a rig with a Manual trany;
When you come to a stop, open the drivers door. All the doors and back hatch unlock.

From the manual:
Automatic Door Locks Programming
The Automatic Door Locks feature can be enabled or disabled as follows:

For vehicles equipped with a Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), refer to “Personal Settings (Customer Programmable Features)” under “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in Section 4 of this manual for details.

For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, perform the following procedure:

1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.

2. Cycle the ignition switch between LOCK and ON and then back to LOCK 4 times ending up in the LOCK position.

3. Depress the power door lock switch to lock the doors.

4. A single chime will indicate the completion of the programming.

5. Repeat these steps if you want to return this feature to its previous setting.

NOTE: Use the Automatic Door Locks feature in accordance with local laws.

Automatic Unlock Doors on Exit
The doors will unlock automatically on vehicles with power door locks if:

1. The Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit feature is enabled.

2. The transmission was in gear and the vehicle speed returned to 0 mph (0 km/h).

3. The transmission is in N (Neutral) or P (Park).

4. The driver door is opened.

5. The doors were not previously unlocked.

6. The vehicle speed is 0 mph (0 km/h).

Automatic Unlock Doors on Exit Programming
The Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit feature can be enabled or disabled as follows:

For vehicles equipped with a Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), refer to “Personal Settings (Customer Programmable Features)” under “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in Section 4 of this manual for details.

For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, perform the following procedure:

1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.

Scar0 don't forget this man....When performing repairs that require battery cable removal, the feed fuse for the radio
(30amp, for fuse location please consult DealerConnect, TechConnect, or Fuse Cover)
must be removed prior to disconnecting or reconnecting the battery. Disconnecting and
Reconnecting the battery can cause electrical spikes that may damage the MyGig - REN
or REZ radio. Removal of the fuse will prevent this from occurring.

my apologies about the "automatic" assumption, when you mentioned the a/c flash, and I went onto dealerconnect, I saw the flash info and guessed that must be what you were talking about and figured you must be an auto too.

I really got nothing more other then to suggest you take it in and get the dealer to figure it out.

i don't think the truck thinks its an auto, but the flash probably did screw it up somehow ... if thats the case, then at least get the dealer to

a) take it seriously make sure they open a work order.
b) ask them to call in to engineering if they say it all seems fine but its not working
c) find a solution other then "I dunno"

I know thats a major inconvenience but I can't help you from here, they need to know what a PITA it is for you to travel that far and come up with no resolution. I suspect a bad module is the culprit. Just a guess.

Hopefully they work for you. Good luck.

bettsyboy, Thanks again for the info.
Back to the dealer I go. I will let you all know if they are able to find a solution.
