What is the difference in AEM and K&N? I'm not talking price, I'm talking performance. Does AEM make their Brute Force model for the Liberty? They don't even list the Liberty under Brute Force. How did Digger get an AEM Brute Force? Not only does AEM not list the Liberty, it also does not list the Nitro. Did Digger use one from another car? Do they really make that much difference vs $$ that they cost? |

I have yet to see any aftermarket intake make enough HP or MPG difference over a clean element to justify the big cost. Factory intakes these days are made to flow plenty of air for any operating range an engine will see. I'd bet the KK intake flows more air than the 3.7L can use. Also, most aftermarket intakes draw more hot air from underhood than a factory one will so no benefit there. Drop in a good clean paper filter or upgrade to a DRY drop-in aftermarket filter when available. Stay away from the old technology oiled filters as they might flow well but they do so at the expense of actual filtering ability. |

They're pretty much the same when it comes to performance |

I agree, that's why I got my K&N used for under $100 and picked up 1.5 mpg compared to a 10,000 mile old factory filter. I drive 25,000 or so miles per year, it will pay off quickly. (if not already) For the hot air issue, the K&N (and I think most/all others) have the heat shield to HELP block the hot engine compartment air. I left the factory tube that goes from near the headlight to the intake box to help bring in cooler outside air. The 7 HP or so they claim (peak of course) had nothing to do with my decision to get the intake, I was going strictly for gas mileage improvement. |

21-8218DC I went with the AEM because it was a dry flow. As far as sound, you can hear the engine a little bit more, but I like it |

the link above is for a 2007 Nitro. They do not list one for a 2008 Nitro or Liberty. I wonder what that's all about? I think maybe I'll start with a K&N replacement air filter, see how that works. They had a fairly impressive K&N demo at the auto parts store that makes you want to get a K&N filter.... but they don't stock the one for the KK. |

Don't know why they don't have a listing for the Nitro's and KK's |

I'm guessing they haven't been tested and don't meet CARB. But you guys in CO don't have to worrry about that. |

They probably are rated. I was just guessing as to why AEM doesn't have their Brute Force intake listed for the '08 Liberty or Nitro. |
