Your 3rd last pic when you were at home shows on your tires that you were in only a couple inchs of mud. Just bugging ya. Great pics digger! Tow that Ford straight to the Jeep dealer so he can trade it in on a Liberty that saved the day! |

I'd be willing to bet if you had your air pressure up you could make it through the sand better. Looks like a lot of fun!!! |

Mike08Liberty wrote: I'd be willing to bet if you had your air pressure up you could make it through the sand better. For sand you want wider tires and low psi to further widen the foot print.Dropping the psi's to about 10psi would have helped greatly as would keeping steady momentum.
Looks like a lot of fun!!! Looked like fun, maybe next year for me. |

Yeh Digger you need to air down a little more especially with MT fitted. Sometimes the side walls of Light truck construction MT that are stiff require a few more PSI let out to gain the required floatation for sand. You need to be easy on the gas but maintain momentem or you will get a lot of wheel spin and the tires will dig you all the way to China. In Australia for beach driving a lot of guy's use HT or AT constrution tires and run them at about 16-18 PSI. |

Looked like fun, maybe next year for me. On my last off-roading trip to GA I was playing in some sand dunes and had my PSI at my normal 35lbs. I didn't have any issues in the sand. Come to think of it, I don't think anyone really aired down on that trip and everyone seemed to make it though the sand fine. From my understanding of sand play you want to keep the momentum up so that you "float" on top of the sand. I don't really see how that is possible if you air down. Airing down makes the tire flat and to me seems like it would be harder to "float" with flat tires. |
