Post subject:  AC TSB Update

I took my Libby in for some service today and I told them that my AC sucks and when its really hot it doesn't blow very cold.

There is an update for the AC system.
TSB# 24-007 - AC POOR PERFORMANCE FLASH MODULE 24-50-09-90

If your not happy with your AC bring it to Jeep. I haven't had time to test it yet, just got it done this morning and the weather is overcast, but I'll report back onces the good ol' 100 degree Florida heat kicks in.

The AC kept blowing hot air after we bought it. But it had ZERO refrigerent in it. But they fixed it and now it blows cool air! 8)

What's up with that? After almost 8 years my A/C in my KJ still blows cold though I have only used it maybe about 10 times in the last 8 years also.

Yeah it just plain sucked! At all speeds I always have to have it on full cold and circulating. Any other car I've drove after a few minutes I have to change the temp because it starts to get too cold. The Liberty has a hard time just keeping the heat out.

Well my AC works great.
it blows 33 degree Air most ofthe time when full max and rmp 2300.

If you want to help max your AC system and are willing do do some work you can try a few things.

1. is add in a thermal reflective layer on every inside panel of the car.
Like they do in houses.
2. Change the air filter if you have 1 once a year. over kill but you want cold air.
3. have the AC checked for the right level of oil and R-134A.
4. Keep the front air to air exchange clean and pissibly upgrade to fan system to pull or push more air through it.

I would have liked to see a Rear AC system inthe Libery to help out the back seat folks.
but that would drive up the cost.

I had this done as well and didn't notice a huge improvement by any means... If forget exactly what the story was, but something about the system being overcharged with freon or whatever they're putting in there these days... Still not impressed with the AC performance - luckily, it hasn't gone over 80 up here all summer.

Chiming in on an old thread...... I had the reflash done in September and I couldn't really tell any difference either. Even after the flash my 96 XJ is noticably colder than the KK.

Ok.... Some how, I have LOST the copy I posted on LOST... I will re upload it tonight... but here is the info from it

- For models built before May 30, 2008 (MDH 0530XX) a software reflash is required.
- For models built between August 26, 2007 and July 2, 2008 an A/C system recovery
and recharge with 18 ounces of refrigerant is required.

Ya think over the years that is one thing they should have perfected by now. It either hardly blows cold or ya freeze your green bean off. Any Jeep i have owned or rode in is always great but my Ram van has been a POS from day 1

Digger,

Did you ever get a chance to look for a copy of the pdf file you had for the A/C TSB and repost it? I just wanted to print a copy out to keep in my records.

Thank You
