Alright we all need to work together to find a way to get a hold of a starscan. I'm sure alot of us would like to do remote start and don't want to pay the stealership to do it. So lets get our hands on the starscan and do it ourselves. Not to mention this would allow Digger to learn so much more about our KKs and actually unlock the true potential, everyone just think of the potential here. Granted this would involve a lot of trust, if you break it when you have possesion we all will suffer plus the next time you would want to use it, I think we could all make it work, anyone, anyone...... Anyone know where to start? |

great idea ... not going to work. You can buy them on eBay for less then $5,000 (in the range of $2,500 - $3,000) but I believe to get the updates and even access the unit you need a dealer code and password. No one that works for a dealership would risk giving you their log-in and password. They would run the risk of being fired and I'm sure other penalties under the law. You need more then just a StarScan to get the remote start working on your truck. The major component is new keys with the remote start button on it and then have that programmed to your truck (which a StarScan can't do). You can get remote start installed at a local audio shop for a lot less then what a StarScan will cost. OEM kit http://www.justforjeeps.com/restfor08and.html |

yeah after I posted this I read the instructions on Just for Jeeps for the remote start and needless to say having the Starscan is one thing, you need to be online the hole darn time with it. What the hell, anyway another good idea from Wingnuts totally not practical. So anyway......random thoughts thread?????? Warranty considered how soon is too soon for a JBA 4" lift on a 09 with under 8000 miles? |

Could always break out some snazzy mission impossible moves and acquire an updated one from a dealership.  I've got black pj's and a ski mask, and we could use digger's ride as the get away vehicle. Might have to pick up some leather seats while I'm in there too...
