Which of the above shocks give the best stock ride and longevity for the money?

Please provide any opinions or information you may have. If you don't have any of these yet, please post what you would plan to buy and why.

Thanks.

Kevin

Here ya go, this is whats available for the KK. Some of these have been used and some haven't. This list was made based on compression and rebound lengths ... http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=46114

You question is very open ... You are asking for opinions and you will get yays and nays for each one. Some people like a firmer ride, some like a softer ride ... some just like what they like. Not sure if you will really be able to get anything out of this. It boils down to user preference ...

mike from my understanding, the ride gets rougher when you go up, so i'm assuming he wants the ride thats going to be the closest to stock or even more comfortable

Ride quality weather its lifted or dropped will depend on the spring rate of the new springs (if new ones are used) and/or new shocks. Also tires can make a big difference in ride quality.

I have the RK lift with stock shocks in the front and the skyjacker 7000 series in the back and the ride is pretty good. Its a little firm in the back but nothing that I can't tolerate.

The sad part is 90% of the responces are right.

Bilstien makes a nice shock.
I lovethem on my track cars and my friend like them on his 200 mph saltflat cars he builds.

Most bilsteins will last 120K miles.
Not all other can do that. then you can rebuild them after that.

So if they cost 3X times as much and get change every 120K mile
or you can buy a cheaper shock and replace it ever 30K miles.

You get to pick....

This is my thoughts on the subject.. I am right maybe. I could be wrong as well...

After you see what other say narrow down the choices again.
make sure the shock is ment to do what you need to do.

I think Digger found out some shock that fit where ment for trucks and not Jeeps. The truck used a Leaf spring and we use Coil spings, so everything is differant. The damping was way off and rebound sucked.

So there are some thing you need to look at....

But wasn't that for the 4" lift?
I really like the Skyjackers. For what I need them for, they do a good job.
As you can see there are lots of opinions. Again it just depends on what you are looking for.

I appreciate the responses. What I am trying to get an idea of what valving best matches the current spring rate for a 2-2.5" lift.... I had Bilstien on my X-Terra Offroad and loved the ride and handling. I think the Bilstien and the BDS would be a good bet but I am just trying to not expand my horizons, as well as others. Thanks for any help you can provide.
