Post subject:  on a mission for information... e-mails sent

I sent e-mails to fastman, JBA and Kenne Bell in regards to there performance parts. We'll see what replies i get. Fastman makes a bigger Throttle Body, which fit older jeeps, and supposedly increased power. JBA makes headers for the 2007 Nitro, i am confirming that they actually for sure will fit on the KK. Finally, Kenne Bell used to have a supercharger for the 3.7 but had issues, i sent an e-mail seeing if anything was in the making. Hopefully we get some good news! I like the idea of our KK's with 300 HP

Unless your going to tear down your engine to put forged pistons in the engine any type of forced induction is out unless you like blowing your engine often. It could easily cost you upwards of $5000 to add a supercharger/turbocharger on the 3.7 and make it live.

i don't plan on doing anything without proper procedure... i was just curious for some answer, maybe even some different options they have. it is quite possible they have a smaller supercharger that could be handled by the 3.7

If a company had issues before and stopped production why would you even want to pursue it further. It clearly didn't work out.

Our 3.7 is just not a good candidate for a turbo or a supercharger. The pistons just aren't built for it. Limit it to the intake, exhaust, and maybe a ecu tune and at least maintain a little reliability.

also keep in mind that even at 300hp, this truck is still not going to be "fast", it's just too heavy and not built for speed at all.

don't get me wrong, I dig the lowered on 20's with a kick stupid stereo and custom interior plan you were going for. I just think its a cruiser not a racer.

sorry for the downer, but IMHO if you want a faster truck, you will need to start with a different truck.

i'm not looking for a racer either... if i wanted that i would have went with a SRT8. The idea of the super charger is not to use the original one. Yes they had problems put it could have been the supercharger itself, if a new one is produced that is compatible you wouldn't be interested? I'm really just looking for some more options to get more power out of the truck. we can all relate to the idea that it just needs to have a little more pep to be a great truck and that's what I'm after. Every review your read about the liberty says how it's v6 only gets 210 hp... other v6's out there do get 30+ more hp. Some can even relate this to the 4 speed trans in the auto's... i do think that's kind of why it lags also, but if definitely could use more juice. I would never risk ruining my truck to put the old supercharger on, nor am i looking to be a guinea pig for that matter. But it is possible that a smaller supercharger could be attached with minor work, and if it is available or going to be available I'd like to know. Thank you for complimenting my vision for the jeep also, it's nice to have people who arent always " the jeep gods will punish you" haha.

i don't know much about the engine in these trucks...i did read it has 9.7:1 compression ratio...with that ratio you can put some boost on it, however i do not know how think the walls of the block are. Its all in the tune when you start to throw boost on a motor.

i'd be interested, however the issue is, they would be way overpriced.

that's why i'm trying to find some options... at least it they are known they can be worked on etc.... and maybe other options will be available

alrighty thank you... i understand your point, i didnt know if they did anything differently with the KK regarding some of those issues... i'll keep my eyes peeled and i'll send them an e-mail also!

It's not the supercharger or even a turbo that is the issue. The issue is in the 3.7 itself, the top piston ring groove in the pistons is to close to the top of the piston(emission reasons) which does not like added boost from a supercharger/turbocharger and tends to break the pistons.Hence the reason you'd have to tear apart the engine and install forged psitons to handle the boost, even low boost(2psi).

If you really want s straight answer about forced induction on the 3.7 give Avenger Off Road a call, they work pretty closely with Chrysler techs for supercharger apps on Jeeps.

In my personal and humble opinion, anything other then intake, muffler, and ECU tune/chip is a waste. Law of diminishing returns kicks in real quick when you spend big money on engines that were not designed for performance in the first place.

Not saying it can't be done, and kudos to you for thinking outside the box, just not worth it IMO.
