Alrighty there... Bettsyboy... seems you've already proven to be quite the wealth of knowledge here, so I had a couple questions... First, you're in Calgary, AND seem to work at a dealer? Mind if I ask which one? Might have to bring my KK in there next time I'm planning to lift probably in the spring, but wanted to know about warranty... obviously chrysler's not gonna warranty my LIFT/new suspension parts.... but how about drivetrain etc? Will a lift void my warranty? ALSO.... how about the K&N Aircharger/Brute air intake? any comments on those/warranty? Next up, tires - what's the biggest rolling diameter that can be programed into the KK (in an effort to keep speedo/odometer accurate)? Thanks alot for all your help, any advice would be greatly appreciated... And of course, if the answers are the right ones - it MAY help grease the wheels a bit with the wife |

I would also like to know about the PowerTrain Warranty as i have the Lifetime one and would like to know if that will still be OK with the 2" Lift. Obviously the Suspension is not lol which is alright, ill fix those myself. But also, would my 245/75 Tires void any warranties, i mean there only about 1.2" bigger than stock anyway Thanks in Advance |

First off, yes BrendonR you can bring it in to me, I will PM you the dealership name. Secondly all warranties are subject to each individual dealerships approval, so whatever I say may not be gospel at your local shop, some are really not nice to us and others are fantastic working with our modded vehicles. They way our shop runs it is.... Only the components affected by the mod would be questioned. If you put an intake on, your engine could be affected if you don't maintain it properly. If I can blame your mod, I can refuse warranty. So, if your head gasket blows, I would have no reason to blame the intake for the failure so there is no reason to reject your warranty, but if the air filter is clogged the oil is sludge and the throttle body is full of crap, you may have a problem, it can red flag just because its on there. The shop always makes a lot more when you pay for it compared to warranty... the techs get better time, parts gets a better cut and the labor rate goes up to customer pay, instead of warranty rates. Lifts and tires can get iffy. Again some places freak out and some love the stuff. If its a pretty simple lift, and nothing is stretched out, or the driveshaft is at a horrible angle you are usually good. If its a big rig complaining of a "clunking" over bumps and all the angles are out of whack and the guy should have replaced his control arms, got a driveshaft extension, brake lines and whatever else then he's screwed. So with a small lift the components could be, ball joints, control arms, shocks, struts, and maybe end links MAY NOT be covered we would have to try to determine if the lift was at fault or if it was a defect, but regardless your transmission, diffs, window regulators, and blower motors should still all be covered. Again, I can only speak of my shop, don't be printing this off and running into your local dealership, see bettsyboy is said this stuff would be covered... it is up to you and your relationship with the service department at your dealer. Elt31987- there was no lifetime powertrain warranty in Canada, but I imagine that by the time you hit 160,000 miles, they could be looking for ANY reason to deny the claim. You should be ok but again, its up to how many times you bring doughnuts and coffee into your techs... they are usually the ones that would signal the alarm and tell the advisor. |

I guess I lucked out when a few years ago I left the dealership where I bought my Jeeps, and went to another jeep dealer where my buddy always went. I am always usually in and out, and if it is something in depth he tells me and i drop it off for the day, thankfully his shuttle service will take you home/work and bring you back when it is done. Since meeting this guy, he has hooked me up many times, many ways and I have tried to bring him business too. I have spent my share of money with him and he knows who his customers are and personally takes care of them. His customers are loyal also as many followed him to the Dodge dealership he moved to when his old Jeep dealer closed earlier this year. And yes coffee and doughnuts help, but they seem to like beer here in Colorado. |

I think once they know you are loyal to their service dept yeah. I used to have the old service manager ask me when I walked in if had punched my time card, I was there so much ( 2 cars oils changes, tow hitch, wiring, tsb's etc) they loved me cuz I spent $$ but I talked to everybody and they were cool. Just feel em out. |

Well i brought the Service Guys Donuts and they were all excited and smiley lol. The tech brought me into the shop and showed my under the hood what he thinks my clicking problem is. He thinks the drive shaft coming out of the firewall was extended when the lift went on. I took pics which are uploading to PhotoBucket now. He said the click sounds a little harder than the clock spring but to drive it around or see if someone sells a drive shaft extension and if it doesnt go away he will order a clock spring and get it installed. |

Ok thats the shaft he was talking about. Does this look OK? Does it look over extended? What im planning on doing is measuring how long it is and hope someone with a stock liberty could measure theres and someone with a 2" and 4" could do the same. Thanks |

He is full of doo doo........................... The shaft goes in to the steering rack which is bolted to the unibody... the rack is unaffected but the lift Now it may be a bad shaft, but it wasn't caused from the lift |

I was thinking that. Now Digger, does it look bad or do you think it might be the clock spring still? |
