Post subject:  HELP!!

Ok... I need some answers, My 08 KK that I purchased Oct 26 07 has just under 34k on it and just found out that my rear brake pads are done, shot, no more... Why? and the fronts have more than 50% life left and the fronts are the main braking power. What gives?

How I found this out was this morning when backing out of my driveway my rear brakes squealed "like finger nails on a claukboard" and then I drove foward and then there was silence, so I parked the Jeep and took out the impact gun and took off the rear wheels and found out that my brakes pads were.............

please anyone have any ideas? is there a TSB on the rear brake pads of any kind of sticking ??????

So far that seems to be the trend with 07+KJ/KK/KA's with esp. Most report only getting 30K~40K out of the rears

I have an 08 KK that was purchased in Oct 07. The same thing happened to mine. At about 30K, the rear bads were at 5 percent and the fronts were at 55 percent. I also assumed that the front brakes did the majority of the stopping work and would wear out first also. I'm hoping that it's just poor quality OEM pads and hope to get more miles out of the rears that I installed. I have about 43K now and I'm starting to hear a little squeak when I stop, so I plan to check the front pads this coming week.

I talked to my service advisor about this a few months ago,and he mentioned the ESP,ABS are the reason why the rear brakes wear faster then the fronts. This was the way the engineers designed the brake system.Plus the OEM brakes are junk.I would suggest using ceramic pads for replacements if you want them to last longer.

I guess esp really eat brakes since im at 55k and the rear pads wear no faster than the front ones and I expect them to last at least an other 30k :D
