Help.....I think the rotors are warped or out of round. It does alot of shimmy when doing 50mph and come to a stop. Didn't used to do it till just recently. Only have 17,000 on my '08 Liberty. Is this something to be expected at this mileage.....and more importantly, is it covered under warranty? Read somewhere where brakes not covered at this mileage???!!
Please give me some input.....thanks!

wearable brake parts (pads and rotors) are only covered for 1 year or 20000kms/12000 miles

bettsyboy beat me to it :D Might be time to take a vacation since you guys are covered

Now, warped rotors can happen any time. I would suggest taking it to place like just brakes which does free inspections. If the rotors are warped, it is simple to replace them. PM me and I will be more than happy to get you part numbers and detailed instructions

As others mentioned, I think you might be out of luck
How have you been silverfox?
I thought that since you have not been around here that you sold your kk.

Did you work things out with your dealership fixing all of the issues your kk had?

I had a new set put on in January and they were noticably warped by about may...probably 3000 miles. I think they were junk parts assembled with little care though.

Like others stated wearable items like the barkes are only covered for the 1st 12,000miles/12 months.

On a 2nd note I've seen brand new rotors warp in less then 500miles(quality stuff also),how you drive has alot to play with this.Do not have warped rotors turned, they will still be warped and will just continue to warp, just replace them with new pads.

Hi SilverKK09....no not everything has been dealt with at the dealership I went to. On top of it, that dealership no longer has the Jeep line, losing it when all the Chrysler stuff happened. Thus can't do any warranty type stuff. Have to go an hour away to have anything done to it. Still have issues with the skyslider leaking. They couldn't seem to fix it. The transmission has some slipping problems that they said they had fixed, but it's still doing it at times.
Plus, I've never had a car where the rotors went out so quickly. :( One thing after another. I'm looking at other cars, but haven't come across something that I really have to have. So I guess I'll get the rotors replaced and go from there :? :?

No thanks :( I think I've had enough with Jeeps. First time I've owned a Jeep...always wanted one. But too many problems. I'll stick with Honda/Toyota. I know they have their problems too, but at least they're more reliable. I've owned them in the past and never had any problems. Bought the Jeep because I wanted to try something different. Well..I got that out of my system :)

Hate to see you give up on Jeeps so quickly. I have had 7 Jeeps and ran them all over 250,000 miles with no problems really. Current one has 131,000 and have spent less than 500 besides regular maintenance.
Cousin has a 2007 Toyota Tacoma that has 13000 miles on it, most all were put on going back and forth to the dealer. Officially they have had it more days than what he has.
Every now and again one pops up that has some problems in any car line.

Sure did.....but it's still not right.
Question: ball park figure on how much the new rotors and pads might run me????? I'm not doing it myself. Thanks...

i dont think its a warp per se, when your brakes get hot, pads stick to the rotors, leaving some of pads material glued to the rotor. this makes that feeling in the pedal like its pulsating. just mashine the rotors and you will be good to go

You are looking at about $300 if you go to napa for parts

My KK sat on the lot a year before I bought it just being driven for random test drives and I could tell as soon as I bought it with 100 miles on it that they were warped. Since it was within the first year of me owning it, they replaced them right away no problem, but as everyone else has said I'm sure they wouldn't do it now a year later.

Just goes to to show you the quality sometimes, but as another thing, if it sits a long time in the colorado random weather (60 sunny and snowing), sh*t will start to get wonky. :)

Give me 20 min with any Honda Or Toyota and I'll bring it back with warped rotors,on the other hand I am a high mileage owner that has 170,000 on an 02 kj (rear drum brakes) that got 80k out of oe tires with only two brake replacements since new. Repeated hi speed panic stops will kill the very best rotors. Normally warped rotors are more an irritant than a not stopping the car issue,go with everything new when the pads wear out.
