so i used the tensioning feature of our e-brakes and i think i might have over tightened mine?!?!?! you make your e-brake tighter by putting your car in reverse and letting it roll then push the e-brake button and pull up firmly.. the problem is tho, now that i tightened it ( before it didnt work), when i drive i hear a noise.. and i'm assuming thats the brake catching... how do i fix this cause i know this is not good for the car to drive when the brake is catching... |

You are probably just wearing away some of the rust that is on the pads.... I wouldn't worry about ti to much. If you want, you can all ways jack up the rear, and pull the little black rubber plug on the back side of the dust shied... this will revel the star gear... get a screw driver in there and you can turn the gear. I don't remember which way you need to turn in to loosen it......... |

well my brake engages after the 3rd click out of 7 haha... i don't really know if thats good.. i mean it stops the car in 1st gear... i get the car rolling and the third click slows it down and brings it to a stop.. i think it's supposed to be the 4th click or the brakes catch |

Thats fine.... after I had the recall done, that was where it started to work... now it won't work any more |

so after the third click is okay?... alright maybe i am clearing away some rust cause it was never used before. yours doesnt work?... try it out digger as logn as the cable isnt broken or disconnected the auto tensioner feature should work... all you need to do is put your car in reverse ( or on a hill facing upward... make sure its clear). then let it roll, push the button and pull the e-brake up... you dont have to " rip the brake" just pull it firmly then push the button and release down. you should gain 1 or 2 clicks every time you do it.... haha my dad taught me this trick hence why i tried it out tonight. hopefully its all fine, i intend on getting an oil change this week anyway ( should i go full synthetic???) and i'll have them check that out and my regular brakes... might be time for some new pads and rotors... we'll see... |

Dang Digger, you have a lot of rust on those brakes. Time to get the WD-40 out and give them a good coating! You know... since they don't work anyway. Jeepin_it_real, I did the adjustment on my rig way before the H28 recall. Even did a write up on it. I haven't done it since the recall, but the E-brake still works fine. |

Hey just wanted to say thanks, the freakin e Brake has been driving me nuts!! It would not work at all on a hill so I took it to the stealership and they charged me like 70 bucks for "Readjustment"....YEAH RIGHT it didn't do squat. I was about to take it in again but saw this post. Tried it out....and now it works!! |

Yeah EH! hehe Well i'm heading back to the dealer next week for a different issue and I'll try to get them to refund that. Now when I turn on the engine I get a warning flash twice saying "Change Oil". Its not the oil symbol on the dash, but just below (where the mileage is normally shown). Don't understand how this could be as I just got them to do an oil change 2500km's before. |
