You are the first KK I have heard of. Does it happen at different gas stations?

I have heard of some KJ owners that have the same issue. Some report that the problem was solved by switching gas stations while other have had the filler necks replaced...........

Does it happen at every gas station you go to? If it's happening at different stations then it has to be some issue with the filler neck.

I have also had this problem with mine. It was not an issue for the first year or so, but lately it has been an issue. I have about 31k on the clock. Any fixes would greatly appreciated. :BANANA: :BANANA: :BANANA: :BANANA:

maybe but if you do could you make it a little clearer then it is in this thread

the first post is about the tank overflowing and the nozzle not shutting off when re-fueling is it not?

the tsb is for a "Hard to fill" problem, meaning the nozzle keeps clicking off and won't fuel up properly.

also the tsb only applies to "international markets" so not North America

it is an interesting tsb but has nothing to do with DirtyKKs problem.

There are several Nitro with this issue. It is not about the nozzle not shutting off. it is about a burp after it shuts off. Most of the time the dealer has replaced the fuel tank to fix this problem. This TSB actually directs the Tech to trouble shoot the problem, rather than just replacing the tank. I did not see any referenced to "International market" in the TSB. Did I miss something?

That is how I read it. I did not see international only.

my bad... i missed the KK Liberty line and only saw the KK Cherokee (Int markets) line, it is indeed for all markets

There maybe another tsb but the way I read this one, it is about the nozzle shutting off and not about burping or spilling

shuts off repeatedly while trying to fill vehicle.

Maybe I should have been a little clearer in the first part of my previous post, and separated it from the last 2 sentences. It was late and I was tired. My bad... :oops:

Regarding DirtyKK's issue in the fist post;

This is how it has been described by the Nitro owners that are having this issue as well.
"If the person is filling the tank and waits for the nozzle to click off, it burps gas down the side of the rig."
This has happened to several Nitro owners. The usual dealer fix is to replace the whole tank assembly.

Referring to the TSB;

If this TSB is followed, it could eliminate the other components involved in the fueling process for DirtyKK's issue as well.
Some of these other components (if defective), could cause air to become trapped in the tank (when filled) and cause the burp /spillage /overflow, at the end.
If there is another faulty part in the system, which is cheaper to fix, then why not go that route?
Eliminating the need to replace the hole tank assembly, unless absolutely necessary.

Post subject:  Re: Fueling Issue

A little update. A KA owner just had their fuel tank replaced and they noted this on his invoice.
"Confirm Gas Overflow when filling, test vent hoses, good.
Found Rollover valve in tank NOT sealing. Replaced fuel tank and seal."
Apparently there is some kind of bulletin on this issue. If we could get a copy, it would be most useful to those trying to get this rectified.

If this is a Rollover valve issue, then there should be major concern if you are ever in an accident.
This changes the whole take on the fueling issue!
These fueling problems need to be reported! Go here and fill out the form. So NHTSA can track this problem.
