Are there any pros or cons of each? i like the looks of the RRO supersliders better but theyll both do a good job im sure. how about mounting, one of them more of a pain to install then the other? is one more securely mounted then the other?

They both look great! RRO has a template for use in drilling holes and is powder coated black. RL has a triangulated support bars which seems like it would be stronger but they come bare steel. I'd go with what you think looks best. Both look very heavy duty.

The RL's ones have a much stronger mounting system and I can tell you from personal experience the RL's super skinks will take alot of abuse, did plenty of R&D on them(that is research and destruction). But I'm a little biased but they are much better anyway.

Took a real nasty hit on my original ones(2' drop,my Jeep was at 5500lbs at the time) and it was so hard that Marty(RockLizard) who was riding shotgun wanted me to stop sine he thought I broke the rail, nope just a small bend(can't hardly notice it,ask Tom) and dent.

Powder coating is pointless for rockrails,it will get chipped off if you actually go offroad.RL sends his bare steel to save you money and you can paint them how you want them.Cheap Rustoleum Hammered paint about the best, holds up well and is easily touched up after a nasty trail run.

When buying rock rails I would consider a couple of things like
who supports KJs/KKs, I mean really supports us and gets on here to ask questions and give real world feeback
only one.
As far as who builds the srongest , just from the looks again RL, plus I have Troys old ones and I know what kind of R&D they went through and are still ready for more
Powder coating, complete waste, marketing ploy is all that is. I bought a pair of used Boulder Bars a couple of years back that were powdercoated , they were only a year old and most all of it was coming off in strips. Had to sand them down and repaint before I could sell them.
RRO has never been on here to answer questions or stand behind their products, if you have a problem with RL products he's there trying to help you out

My choice is simple

OK, Tom. When I'm in the market for some new rockrails I'll get them from RL. (or build them myself.) I crossed powder coat off my list for under carriage steel. How about for things like roof rails, racks and bumpers?

The only thing I have ever had powder coating stay on since , well since basically since powdercoating came out almost) was the ARB, not sure what they do differently but after buying it used being on the front of mine 4 years, hitting 3 Deer, couple of trees and a Toyota its still good.

Racks, roof rails might do ok since they are not sliding across anything but .....kind of depends on what you want. I painted my RL Gecko Rack I would almost sooner Line X than powder coat them

and from Troys story above about dropping off of that rock heres a picture to show what it did Minor little tweak right near the front on the outside bar

Is this line-x a DIY product? That stuff looks cool! They have a coating that is slippery like teflon. Wouldn't that be good for rock rails?

All line x needs to be sprayed on... It is not a DIY product...

That is cool... only problem is when you step on them with that on there
