So... I decided to go with a basket for the top of my libby (apparently christmas time the whole gift giving thing...and we got too much to fit inside). For this little project I'm ordering steel roof rails from RRO, and going with their adventure rack system, and wanting to run lights up there. Now my questions for the engineers, or 'diggerizers' in the group... how would one go about running the wiring in order to keep the warranty monster known as Fiat happy, and two...do you know if they make a generic switch that could work in the panel that controls the heated seats, esp, etc? My wifey finally gave me the go ahead to start playing with the libby to a degree (even though it's my DD). Thoughts?

lights really shouldnt void any warranty.. just have em powered form a relay directly fomr the battery... also talk to digger about the switch idea... he's been toying with a few ideas like that

At this point, using the center switch gang is not going to be easy.

First, they are not cheap. If I wanted to buy the gang that has the power seat buttons, it would cost me $37 bucks. If you have an auto with the hill decent, expect to pay out the nose. IIRC, it was $80 at COST. After dealer mark up, expect to pay over $100. Also, one would have to solder new pins to the bread board since that switch gang is a direct input to the CAN Bus system.

I will PM you later tonight with what I did......

I ended up running my wires up the A-pillar on the outside under the trim that takes up the gap between the post and the windshield.

I also have the Chrysler instructions on where to drill the roof if you want a template. If you want to know more about how I did my wiring, let me know.
