I talked to my dealer today and he told me that the only KKs that are to be recalled are those built between 10/29/09 nand 11/16/09. Luckily mine was built a few days outside that range. I was glad to hear that since I have had mine parked ever since I heard about the recall earlier this week.
The potentially defective part is apparently an improperly formed or missing brake booster input rod retaining clip. this can cause brake system failure and an accident. See details at:
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm?rcl_id=10V009000&searchtype=quicksearch&summary=true&refurl=rssFrom my past experience fixing other cars (haven't looked under the dash of my KK on this), the lever that the brake pedal is on is connected to a rod that goes through the firewall and inserts into the brake system master cylinder. There is a clip that permanently connects it to the master cylinder once it is inserted into the master cylinder. If that is really the part that may be faulty, this is very serious because it would mean that the brake pedal and the linkage it is attached to would be disconnected from the rest of the brake system meaning the only brakes you would have would be the emergency brake. The mechanic I talked to at the dealer had not received detailed instructions to fix the problem yet, but he agreed that what I said above was probably correct.
