Post subject:  Changing Over My Fluids

So eventually im going to be switching over all the fluids, differentials, transfer case etc. Im planning on going Mobile 1 for everything since i already have used their oil since 3,000 miles. So the Transmission calls for ATF+4, Would this(http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/Mot ... c_ATF.aspx) work? or is it some other Mobile ATF needed. For the Transfer Case the same question since it uses the same fluid, and the same for power steering as it calls for ATF +4. For the Rear Differential im assuming (http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/Mot ... 140LS.aspx) will work as its 75W140 that is called for. Now for the front it calls for 80W90 but Mobile 1 only has (http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/Mot ... -90LS.aspx). Whats the difference, would one be better than the other and do you think putting in the 75W90 would void any warranty? Thanks

The gear lubes are cool, but that trans ATF will not work..... Valvoline makes ATF+4

The only ATF's approved by Chrysler for your Jeep that have the correct additive package.

Notice no RP or Amsoil is on that list, they are not approved and do not have the correct additive package for your trans.

I have not had real good luck with the Mobil synthetic gear lube's in our race car. Turns rancid black and we had some bearings that looked funny and we changed them out. I went back to Red Line gear oil. Just my opinion. Also had some fulcrum plate galling in the VW tranny we tried it in. The oil is find. This was a Hewland LD-200 tranny with straight cut gears.

Yep the M1 75w-140 gear oil will be more then good for your diffs.

OK cool, the front axle calls for 80W90, should i use the Mobile 1 75W-90 or put the 75W140 in both?

I can't find the Mobil ATF +4 nor the Mobil Super ATF +4 for sale that is on that list.

There isn't really a point in changing the Trans fluid unless you can get the oil out of the converter. It holds over 2/3s of all the ATF.

Ok im going to stick with Mobile 1 for the front and rear diffs. Anybody know how much oil is needed for the front and how much for the rear? Also do you recommend a gasket seal or using the rubbery sealant in a tube? Thanks

You will need 4qts between the F/R and will have some left over. The front should have a fill/drain plug and use RTV on the rear.
