I put these on my sky slider:

They seemed to be the easiest to take on and off when I was doing my research. They work OK for now and I have my ski racks up on there.....

With my Dad moving back to town here - we're going to fab something up ourselves.

I'm actually planning on *ahem* borrowing Rock Lizard's sport rack (for the KJ) to mirror use into mine. Difference being? I'll attach the side rails with Ubolts when I need them, and take them off when I don't.

This is what I'm thinking:

Using that basic design to build the side rails, I'll then just fasten rails either into the inside (less weight/more asthetic), or on top (more weight/less asthetic) with Ubolts.

thoughts?

how much clearance between the rack and the skyslider, like are you making it so you can have the rack on and still open it??.. or you plan to just attach, detach and re attach the cargo rack?

You can buy whatever crossbars you like - they have feet for the rounded or square - it's up to you - I also got slightly longer ones so i coule put more stuff up there like my kayak and my bikes at the same time.

You have to take it off if you want to open the skyslider.

Jeepin - I'm planning (at the moment anyways) - to make it relatively low-profile, so that it'll clear the skyslider, with a bit of room so that I can run tie-down-straps around stuff.

I MIGHT however make it tall enough for the clearance required to open, however.... I'm thinking that's unlikely.

The only downside is the removal, it'll take a few minutes to put on/take off the cross rails - but considering that, for the most part, it'll be ON in the winder, and OFF in the summer (unless I need to pile up extra camping gear, or make a "special" load) I don't think 20 minutes or so will be too un-bearable.

Anybody know if there's a fuse we can pull for the skyslider - that won't effect anything else? it'd be nice to disable the button altogether, so it can't be accidentally pressed....
