Post subject:  CV issue

Ok, so a few weeks back, i got a whole lotta' goodies from JBA. Some of which included new trimmed-down CVs. I seem to be having as issue with getting the driver side CV to seat all the way into the axle housing. The pasenger side wasnt any issue at all, i was actually able to put it completely in place by hand. Not sure if maybe im doing something wrong or if there is a trick... my stock CV will go back in to the driver side just fine, so i cant quite figure out why the new one wont fit

the stock cv's were hitting the springs/coils.... there is more clearance on the new ones

Are we talking about the 2.5" JBA lift kit? or what?

:? :? :?

I don't know why the CV's would need to be shaved... I'm running almost 5 inches of lift with out an issue on my KK.

clacker,

You might hit up boblemoche to see if there is a trick. He is the only one thus far to pull a CV on a KK. Does Marlin even know if the KJ and KK CV's are the same?

we cant even tell what vehicle he has, this is his first post. im guessing this should not be in this section and instead the KJ. JBA does not have any CVs listed for the KK. that being said, i dont think there is anything special you need to be doing, the same thing should work for either side and you got the passenger side in. maybe you have an incorrect CV. idk how much help we can give...

Yes, it is the KK. Ive spoken with Marlin over at JBA a good bit about what im doing, and the CVs im refering to and ordered are definatly for the KK. I spoke with him later yesterday evening and he seems to think that either one of the splines or part of the outter shaft of the driver side CV is incorrectly machined and needs to be measured with a caliper. Im more of less doing my own 6" lift and from what i can tell, my CVs would become my weakest link.

What up clackattack, it took me a bit to figure out it was you....

The only help I can add is make sure it is a 27 spline end.....

My cv's will slip in easy on both sides. mabe there's something wrong with the new ones you have. btw if your really aiming for 6'' lift check your tie rods. cv's are not the weakest link in our ifs :x

And Thanx for the heads up Bob ill keep ya posted on that one. Havein a friend make me a nifty little contraption we seem to think may fix this issue
