I know this topic has been discussed before but I am looking for some side steps/nerf bars for my wifes 09 KK. She has wanted them for a while and now that she is pregnant she needs them more then ever to get in and out of her jeep. The problem is, with our first kid coming we are low on funds. I have searched the forum and looked at quite a few links as well as the preferred vendors and it looks like I am still looking at $300+. From what most of the threads say I want either stainless steel or alluminum bars so they dont rust, especially since I live in Cleveland with the salt and snow. She wants them in all black Can anyone recommend anything cheaper? Does anyone have any experience with these or can anyone tell me why I should or should not get these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2009-200 ... ccessories |

I am going to sell the Mopar Chrome Tubular Side Steps that came with my Jeep (Part#82211259) and replace them with sliders soon. ![]() They look cool and accent the Jeep quite well, but I wouldn't really recommend them for use as a step for your wife. It is rather difficult to get a good footing, especially in inclement weather, because the step is too close to the plastic rocker panel thing and gives you a very small surface area to work with. I think they are kinda worthless as a step, but it could just be my fat foot. That is just my on the Mopar side steps if that is an option you were considering.I will be posting the side steps for sale soon if anyone is interested. |

I got mine from http://www.runningboardworld.com. I purchased the stainless for the lifetime warranty. I also purchased the ones made by steelcraft automotive. Not only were they the least expensive, they are manufactured in the U.S. and were recommended by my local truck acc. shop. They told me the black finish was more durable than the Westin I usually buy. The only reason I went with rb world, was my shop couldn't get the nerfs from their vendor for my 2008. SS pt. #221707 $209.00 shipped Blk. pt. #221700 $199.00 shipped |

I clicked on the link but it looks like the black ones do not have a lifetime warrenty and is made out of carbon steel and not stainless steel. I don't know anything about carbon steel. I assume it is not as durable as stainless? |

Your not going to find any black stainless steel side steps. If there black they will be regular steel,if there shiny they will be aluminum or stainless. And yes stainless does rust also.

Great point. I guess i looked at a few places and most cheaper ones have a 5 year warranty against rust. I would be happy to get 5 years out of them. |

I took these photos in the rain, but you get the picture. These are the SteelCraft bars and were in your price range. If you have the Mopar moulded mud guards then you have to order the nerf bars with two sets of rear brackets to get the proper clearance at the mud flap. Overall I'm pleased with them and it allows my 5 year old to get in and out of the Jeep by himself. |

Those are exactly what I am looking for. Did you buy them straight from steelcraft? Ate they round or oval? |
