| Post subject: | No power for my Jeep |
This is the second time this has happened to me. I walked up to my Jeep and pressed the key fob to unlock the door, no response. I attempted a few more times standing next to the door and still no response from the jeep. I used the key to unlock the door and when I opened it the alarm went off. I was surprised the first time because I thought the battery was dead however I expected it this time. To turn the alarm off I had to start the Jeep and everything was fine. The difference this time is on the panel where odo reading is it read "no fuse" (I do not have EVIC). I opened the fuse box, didn't see anything out of the ordinary (didn't test each fuse), pushed down on each fuse and looked at the display again and the message disappeared. Any ideas, I will mention this next time I'm at the shop but if I bring it in now they are going to say "it works now" and look at me like I'm crazy. Thanks Michael |

They're going to give you the famous SOL speech. If they can't replicate it, they don't care. |

Check the M27 fuse. It supplies power to the ignition switch/ wireless control module (WCM) / steering column lock. I'm going to almost bet this is a WCM problem! Other problem that can occur Quote: However today I got out of work went to start the liberty and nothing happened. All that I get is a click , wont even crank at all. At first I thought it was my fault maybe left my lights on or something. However the lights were not dim at all , slider roof opened no problem , and everything else electrical was working fine. I tried to jump it anyway just in case. Still no luck. Tried switching from park to neutral to drive then starting again still no luck. When I did turn the key the dash lights would all turn off completely (i read that this is a good sign that the ignition is ok?) , again the headlights didnt dim at all.
Obviously it was the m27 fuse blowing due to a short. Causing ignition not to work. Was due to a wiring harness of some sort near left foot well. Guy said it was a manufacturing defect , wire in hardness or whatever was broken/cut and came apart. Causing a short. replaced harness / wiring etc. |

I had the WCM go on my 08 KK,and the remote didnt work, plus it did not even crank over as if there was no electrical,so if Michael KK started,I dont think its the WCM. |

On the 08's, there was a TSB that stated to replace the WCM if the distance of the remote decreased or was erratic. I had the WCM on mine replaced due to flaky performance and never had a no start issue |

I read the TSB for the WCM and it states no crank or no start.but he could try the reset and see if it helps, DIAGNOSIS: 1. With the condition present (i.e. the vehicle in the no crank / no start condition), connect the StarSCAN® scan tool to the vehicle. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position, and power up the StarSCAN®. 3. If the WCM is electronically locked up, the StarSCAN® will display the WCM as being “off bus”. 4. If the no crank / no start condition is present, and the WCM is “off bus”, then reset the WCM by temporarily removing the IOD fuse (with the key out of the ignition switch), wait for 10 seconds and then reinstall the IOD fuse. 5. With the IOD fuse reset having been performed, verify that the vehicle will now crank, start, and run. 6. If the condition is temporarily corrected by performing the above steps, and if the part number of the WCM is earlier than the part number of the WCM listed in the part reference table in the Service Bulletin Parts Required Section below, then perform the Repair Procedure. |

I have not changed the battery in the key fod however each time I grabbed my second key that I have in a safe and tired to turn off the alarm with it, no luck but I haven't tried the second key before opening the jeep. Both times I was able to turn over the engine while the alarm was on with no issues. |
