Aite, check it out... got a moded version of JBAs 4" adjusta strut system that right now is adjust to like 4.90" in the front. The rear, for the moment, is the normal 4" setup, but i think im going to add a 3/4" spacer to level it. Same Eagle Alloys from before with 4.825" BS with NO SPACERS! 255/85 Maxxis MTs (approx. 33.4x10.5). with the front pich welds removed, no rubbing and normal ride hieght at all. Inner wheel well liner seems to set in the way a lil, but i think im gonna take it out and cut it up a bit to fix that.

oops, how did that get here 8)

In these two shots u can see where i cut off a 2" wide strip on the bottom of the bumper
Image

I used a bunch of zip-ties in random places under all that inner liner to kinda pull and stretch the wheel well open and clear the bumper where i cut it.

BIG THANKS to Marlin over at Jeepin by Al for the hook up with some awesome, high quality aftermarket parts, DiggerFreek here for the queries i had for him and for the vast amount of info/input he was able to give me on this project, and Boblemoche over at the JeepKJ forum for the inspiration and answering countless questions for me

I can see about half of them.
That thing looks tough. Sometimes I like the lot of open wheelwell look ,other vehicles look good with the stuff look. I think your's looks good stuffed.
Just hope those diffs can hold up to the 33's

I'd be opting for 4.56 gears.Don't be alarmed when they can not get it back into alignment.

i'm with tjkj... your asking for trouble with the 33's without re-gearing... cant wait til you level it out. looks real mean with 33's and 5" of lift but again it worries me with all the problems i heard with 33's on the earlier liberties

WoW looks great. So tell me about the power loss. I tried 31.7" tires on the front to see if it would clear and it did but could not drive around on all 324 to test if I had enough power around town, mountain roads and towing. What u think power wize??

Like the nick name of the KK. Still think what to call mine. Nice flex pics.

clacker youve got a beast of a rig. my rear springs and trackbar get here today and my kit will be complete and ready to install. im lookin at getting the km2 in that size tire, want to get more use outta the tires i just bought in november. plus some gears installed, ive got 4.10 but looks like ill be selling those for 4.56 after more consideration. :banghead: im also glad you didnt have to trim the front bumper a whole lot. i was thinkin i was gonna have to trim it like the liberator II and im not really fond of the way that looked.

also are modded cv's really needed? whats the issue? and any more info you want to cough up on your little steering contraption?

Why are your springs black?
Also what skyjacker components do you have?
Why the modded coil-overs? My coil-covers are set to give me a 4" lift and I had previously 4.25" and will be adjusting it to 4.5" before my tires.
So any power with those 33s?

Post subject:  Re: 33s on 5" !!!

well, believe it or not, i really cant notice that much of a loss in power when compared to the 245/75s i WAS running. Reverse is a lil weak, but hwy speeds like 45-65 and 65+ feel about the same as it did b4. Ya, i think the 4.56s will be better than the 4.10s when i do the math. My concern with the CVs is that at a stand still on level ground, they are almost maxed out... not real sure about their angles of operation, but it just seems that the way they are now, after a good few many potholes and some bumpin and bangin around on the trail is gonna start to break down the boots. o yea, and about that steering contraption... A shop buddy of mine is helping me design/build a spacer more or less that will mount on my steering knuckle in place of the steering link, and then the steering link will connect into this adapter, raising the mounting point of that link about 1.5" higher than the stock location of the mount which will relieve stress off of that ball joint.

and speaking of the 4.56s... hey Bob, can u get me the part numbers on those and maybe a link to where i can get them? i can only seem to round up 4.10s...

I know that Marlin doesnt have any cut-down CVs for the KK yet, but i think i may be talking to him to see what i need to do to get him to prototype some for me if i ship some out to him to be cut

Well, originally, i was gonna have Skyjacker struts up front and did for like a day... but it didnt take much to figure out that the build i had at the time would hold up at all, so i sent that stuff back. The coils i got with those struts were black, so when i got the rear ones from Marlin that were red, i had them re-powdercoated to match... but since i opted to go with the adjust-a-strut assembly, i kinda goofed the color match

if that spacer works out for ya do you think you could have your friend build another one for a fellow jba 4" owner?

oh yea is that the older 4" rear springs that give an actual 3" or the newer ones which is closer to 4.5"?

Seems like maybe the older one as I have the first "NEW" 4" which gives you Rear Pass (23" from center to bottom of fender) a 4.75" lift and the Rear Pass w/ full gas tank (22-3/4") a 4.5" lift.

You think all your fellow 4" owners will need this spacer?

Wow no big difference between the loss of power from 245/75r16 to the 33s? Hmmmmmmm.... I really want 265/75r16 but can't afford to re-gear. The 235/85r16 bfg a/t are lighter by 5# and look good and are still wide enough for the KK. Or the 265/75r16 a/t in yoko are lighter then the bfg in the same size. Thanks for the info

Post subject:  Re: 33s on 5" !!!

as far as the steering link extension thing goes... its really hard to say. I mean, unless your planing on doing some offroading with the FRONT swaybar disconnected, i definately think they would be a neccessity. If ur planing on leaving your front swaybar ON, i think ull be fine, outside having a lil less life out of those outter tie rods (which by the way only cost like 25-40$ to replace)

yea, and i dunno...i think these 33s may come off here soon and just chill in the garage for a bit. Or least mnaybe ill have the jeep parked for the next fe days. I think im gonna try to get back in those front fender wells and clean them up even more... at full steer lock to the driver side with some front compression, i get a SLIGHT brush on the edge of the folded pinchweld in the driver wheel well. Passenger side seems to have bout 3/4" more clearance, not sure why, but i think im gonna try to either beat those darn things in more...or i may just opt to grind them completely off and just weld a wide 1/4" thick plate on the seam. I think im gonna trim some more of that inner liner crap thats right behind the front bumper and maybe just a lil more off the lower part of the bumper...just a LILbit

Post subject:  Re: 33s on 5" !!!

I'm still surprised that 33s fit. The 32s I fit larger then the ones I want where 31.9" and had a finger space on the driver front wheel well bothways you turned the wheel. The worse was the wheelwell side closer to the driver. Behind the plastic was some sort of metal that did not move. Great images. I can't wait to get some bigger tires be it 245/75r16 (30.5" or 30.7") or 265/75r16 (31.7") or 235/85r16 (for the lighter weight but still 31.7") Great looking KK fellow 4" lifter.
