Hey everyone...ive been doing hours and hours of investigation on different lift kits for the KK and as much as i would like to pull the trigger on a real deal JBA lift I simply dont have the dough....so for me it looks like the rock krawler lift for the KK is my best option.....my questions for the lost community are..

1. will the dealership laugh at me when i bring it in for service and void my suspension warranty ?
2. how reliable will this lift be over time ( i plan on keeping the jeep ) ?
3. can i do this install myself or should i fork over the cash for a pro ?
4. are there any accompanying mods i should do to make the lift perform better ?
5. is it true that my factory components will fail prematurely do to this "budget" lift?

i really appreciate the help guys!!!!!!

1. yes
2. the lift itself will be fine, the ball joints and other components wont
3. you gotta ask yourself that
4. jba a-arms will protect against the spring contacting the factory a-arms. it happens while offroading and going over bumps to hard or fast
5. yes

coming from someone who has owned an RK lift, save your money for a few months and do it right the first time. i would buy the 2.5" JBA w/out the coilover front setup.

1. Really depends on the dealership
2. So far so good with most of the Jeeps out there
3. As long as you have a decent metric socket set that goes to 21mm and have some common knowledge, you should be fine. Ask questions before you tear in to it, OR look at the how to in the KK tech section regarding the 2.5 lidt since the procedure is almost the same.
4. JBA A arms, beer/dew, sleep and good food
5. Yes with out proper modification

What is it that can fail without proper modification?

bushings, ball joints, cv's.... etc. everything that would normally wear out but will do it faster then the norm.

just do the 2.5 JBA
there really is no other option and you will be waisting your time.
Thee JBA 2.5 inch lift can actually go to a 5" lift if wanted.
But of course that would require more mods. But not the 2.5
I was surprised where I got me KK to go this weekend at Anza Burego (get the skid plates on there  )
Ill show some pics soon.

can you tell me what the 2.5" JBA will cost me when all said and done....without cutting any corners?

heres his site... for a short lift, the cheaper one would suffice and is the one i recommended. the coilover setup for the front is entirely to expensive for some people.

What makes all of these go out faster? I've just put the Daystar lift kit on a few weeks ago. What are some things that I should start looking at as far as replacement?

with spacer style lifts youre already stretching out your stock shocks pretty far and your oem shocks arent meant to be used like that. other things like your ball joints and stuff are at more extreme angles do to being taller. when things are at there limit more often then they were meant to be theyre gonna wear out quicker. nothings gonna just crap the bed in a few months after a lift, unless you have bad luck, but theyre life will be shortened more then they would be on a stock vehicle.

I always laugh when someone wants a lift and says" I don't go off road much so I don't need to spend more on a high priced lift " or words to that effect.
You mean you don't like a nice ride on the street as well? Upgrading your suspension is not all about going off road. It is setting it up to handle better on the street as well as off road. A good suspension suspension makes any vehicle ride better, handle better and over all perform much better than stock. A spacer lift works for a short while but then you have springs sagging more and faster, which results in a worse ride. Also depends on what you do , springs can stack, you can blow front and or rear shocks and on and on.
Sounds like someone is spending big bucks on an engine but not on something that will serve him better/ longer with a full on suspension system/ lift
Sermon is over pass the collection plates
Rev. is done

So you mean this is your best bet??

http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-2_5__Lift_Sp ... K-610.aspx

With the above kit I will still have to fond someplace to reassemble the struts correct?

And you will still have more wear on the drive line then without a lift...Whether it's the RK or the JBA there are still drive line issues that will have to be addressed...eventually..

I am just stating fro the OP the fact that no matter what you do you are modifying the suspension, some kits will be worse then others but they ALL lead to premature wear of "STOCK" components..

Post subject:  Re: Rock Krawler?

thats the one i meant. plus when you are replacing a full suspension instead of adding to your stock stuff the ride will be lots better. especially if you have a fair amount of miles on it. my 08 has 50k and i just got the JBA on and the ride is sooo much better then it was with the RK.
