are you sure its not just a fuse or maybe you accidentally left it disconnected if you've ever pulled off the trip around the radio and a/c controls?

No kidding :juggle:

If you apply slight pressure on the underside of each of the carbon fiber looking strips, the bezel should pop out........

That doesn't make any sense. What you probably read somewhere was that the actual cigarette lighter attachment-- the thingy with the coil thingy that gets hot when you press in the thingy in the receptacle thingy is not delivered from the factory. The receptacle, however, is now largely considered a 'power outlet' for 12v accessories. Something else is wrong.

Agreed. For my :2cents: - my power outlet is live, but I don't even have the cigarette lighter, just a cap over it. Sure you're not just missing the Lighter (I believe you had to order the smoker's package to get it)?

Have you tried plugging the GPS in yet, or are you just going by what the dealer is telling you/assuming they're right? Sorry if this is a dumb question, not meant to be....

Just curious about something, try plugging your GPS unit into the REAR power "cigarette lighter/power receptacle" in the cargo area. What happens?

i disconnected the lighter seems like thre was a plastic cap between the plug and lighter... took the cap off and plugged it in still does not work, i #@&#%# up my dash a little with a minor scratch though. is that cap necessary to make it work or do need it. all my fuses seem good, and the back power supply works. i guess now i should should test it. i wonder if the dealer would help me..

My 08 looks a little different.... I'd pull it again and test it out with a meter

Why even futz with it... its warrantied.

Also in the fuse box in the engine bay there is a fuse for it, there is an option to move the fuse over one slot and it will make it so your outlet is on whenever even if car is off. Direct to battery. Try that see if any change.
