Post subject:  has anyone towed a wrangler behind your kk
I was curious if you guys think its safe or unsafe to tow my wrangler behind my 08 kk. The tj weighs 3680 and I intend to flat tow it from south louisiana to north charleston sc. I hear since I won't have a break buddy I'm asking for trouble. So I knew I should ask owners of kk's since some of you know the limits of it more than I do. I just bought it for my wife two weeks ago.

I believe if you have the factory tow package, the KK is capable of towing 5,000 lbs. However, without some sort of braking on the Wrangler, I think I would be a little wary of towing it that far. Why not get a trailer with electric brakes and tow it on that?

Keep the KK out of overdrive, use engine braking for the downhills in the mountains and for safety triple your following/stopping distance, you'll be fine.

The KK/KJ towing specs are similar and we had no problems with this.

Van is 4450 lbs, dolly 750 lbs, minus some sheet metal, radiator and ac condenser, I'm guesstimating total towed weight to be roughly 5000 lbs.

Never towed one long distance, but I have helped to 2 recover a few :jester:
