I was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding a hitch. I don't go off road much at all. Just a few beach runs on vacation, but I'd like to add a hitch for a recovery point in case (feeling more adventurous this year) and for accessories such as a bike rack. Since I'm cheap frugal I'm looking for one that just doesn't hang real low or look out of place and ugly. I did a search and saw some people mention Curt as one that tucks up and works well but could find a visual. Oh and what about web sites to purchase from, any recommendations on that? Thanks a lot. |

honestly i would go with OEM... check craigslist for people who pull em off.. thats how i got mine... th eoem fits snuggly into the bumper ( after doing a little trimming) its in my opinion the most eye appealing that I've seen |

+1 on the OEM being best looking, but I was pretty cheap too I paid $122.35 at http://www.suspensionconnection.com/cgi-bin/suscon/260-liberty-hitch.html $197.10 is the cheapest I found for OEM so not too big of a difference. http://www.justforjeeps.com/hitchreceiver3.html ![]() ![]()

That OEM hitch is much better than the curtis one for looks, but here in canada the OEM is 450 cash and carry at the dealer and the curtis is 200 with the wire harness delivered to my door. |

Not sure where you are - but Big4Motors in Calgary has the hitch listed as $281. If you need it, the wiring harness IS $300 though. I didn't need it (at least yet), so went with the OEM/no wiring harness. EASY install (literally remove 2 bolts which are already there, hold hitch up, work in 6 bolts - done.) The hardest part, now that I think about it, was you have to cut a piece of the bumper out for the hitch (see the pic above, there's an indented line which must be cut through. Easiest way I found, an ExactoKnife - 3 passes and it would cut right through. |

That's the thing, I got the hitch and the harness delivered to my house for 200. Hard to pass that up. The OEM does look better though. I'm in Guelph, Ont. and that quote was from a dealer. My local truck place only had the aftermarket one and he wanted 300 cash and carry just for the hitch. The install is a snap though, but I've read in another forum that those bolts get real rusty and you may need to remove it for future repairs so I'm going to treat each bolt with a bit of anti seize. |
