You got a leak somewhere.Start tracing the PS lines from the pump to the R&P gear and then back to the pump for any leaks.Check the pump itself for leaks(generally the shaft seal),and check the R&P steering gear itself. Some R&P gear leaks are not really visible and don't leak on the ground, the inner tie rod boots can hide a leaking seal.
If the pump is leaking you need to replace the pump,no fixing and get OEM only(from experiance the OE pumps are the best). If a line is leakning again you need to replace the whole line,no fixing unless you have a hydraulic hose shop nearby. And finally if the rack is leaking that also requires and whole replacement as it is not serviceable, including the seals. The high pressure line(both sides) and the return line(rack side only) are sealed with a o-ring that must be replaced when ever one of those lines is loosened or replaced, they will leak if trying to re-use the old o-ring.
All of this PLUS the stuff in bold happend to me over the past 2-3 weeks. I took it to the shop and was quoted $1055 parts and labor

I blew up my rack too last weekend while wheeling

got quoted 280$ parts plus labor. should end up cheaper than you since im not getting this fixed at the dealer. seems like the KK rack is not very strong
