Post subject:  Another Roof Basket Question..

Does anyone make a roof basket for the KK that would allow me to mount some lights like this??
Image

Notice how the lights don't extend over the top of the rack itself. I ask because I want to get a basket, but I would also like to be able to put a ski box on top in the winter and not have to worry about clearance in the front due to the lights...

Any suggestions? I've looked at the Yakima Load Warrior and the Thule MOAB, but those don't seem to fit my application without having to fabricate a light bar for them, and unfortunately I don't have access to any of the tools needed for that right now. Basically I'm just looking for a 6" high basket that would let me mount some rectangular lights on the bottom rung.

The pic is from RRO, their Wilderness basket, which supposedly only fits the KJ at this time.

This guy made a bracket to fit on his Thule basket. Maybe you could PM him and he could take more pictures and see if that would work for your application as very little tools would be required to make the bracket. Someone else may chime in with a basket that doesn't require any modification.

I used to run one of these on my KJ.................

kinda universal and only needs 4 u-bolts to attach to the OEM rails(cheap at any home depot or lowes) and has 4 foward mounted tabs and 2 rear.Very well constructed and worth every penny($450 or so).

Thanks guys! That defender rack looks pretty solid. I think it might work for what I'm trying to accomplish..

Surco makes a basket that uses a mount just like that. I have the surco basket, but just made some brakets myself
