Hello everyone,

First i would like to thank everyone for this great forum, i have learned a lot before buying my new Jeep.

I bought jeep liberty 2010 4X4 less than two months ago and it's been a great experience until now (it's my first Jeep).

last week the oil change required alert was activated, and it's coming on every time I'm starting the car (just for few seconds and then disappear).

The car just hit 2670 miles (4300 Km), the main problem is that i can't go to the dealer until next week because I'm very busy and the dealer is so far, i have to use the car daily for short distances ( around 20 Km).

So is it dangerous to keep on using the car without changing the oil for the next week, please help me with your opinions.

Haha, yeah welcome to the boards. Your FINE!!! I usually go by 3,000 miles or 3 or 4 months.. Either way if you go a bit past that its not going to hurt the jeep.

If you want the message to go away, turn the ignition on (without starting engine) then slowly and fully depress gas peddle 3 times within 10 seconds. Then turn the key to lock position. The message should go away, but change your oil soon.

Unfortunately i have to wait for more 6 days (around 70 miles or 115 Km) until i go to the dealer and change the oil, and then i will follow the tip you posted to get rid of the alert.

Your fine, if its a true jeep dealer they will reset that "alert" for you...
