I was filling my jeep up today for the first time since i got the new one and was flipping through the trip, trip1 trip2, and then ECO... I got done and started driving with it still on eco and it was turning on and off. I had it at the dealer to get a new key and asked him what it was.. "yeah that's the MDS".. ok? So I proceeded to ask him how it works.. "yeah, it drops the cylinders down to 3 instead of 6".... OK??

NOWHERE in ANY of my jeep information including the build sheet does it talk about MDS.. Even a google search just shows up that its available with the Hemi in the grands.

So what the heck?!! :?

i dont know anything about it but i thought the new "eco" system shut off fuel or significantly lowered consumption while decelerating. which i though most newer vehicles did anyway so who knows.

Yeah, i googled further and found this in a PDF file on chrysler.com - http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:sUfyQk2wXEEJ:www.media.chrysler.com/dcxms/assets/specs/2010_JP_Liberty_A.pdf+2010+jeep+liberty+eco+on&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShFlVsOSz8rneyU8YVrn5eG4j7ouA0SpCpux4ZK4XCN0RCyMowJ8X0nhS9uKBjLiYbuVMXXyCl0nPE16iAQ_-L6Z3kMQRU3lu7imoCA8UbDEQiiQqLD0KHMcF8trn8lo0xBF3bv&sig=AHIEtbRd7IAlzeWIekLmvcPt8_t7Cc04zQ

"New for 2010 is interactive Decel Fuel Shut Off (iDFSO). Standard on all models, iDFSO turns off fuel
during vehicle deceleration, which improves fuel economy without any noticeable changes in
engine performance. In addition, the new standard fuel-saver indicator displays when the vehicle
is driven in a fuel-efficient manner."

So yes, no MDS just an eco "monitor" if you will.

Yup, that's what it is. I love the light, I try to keep it ON as much as possible. :)

When I first got my 10 Liberty and I was driving home that iDFSO kicked in and I thought something was seriously wrong with it. Looked online for info and found out what it was doing. Kind of a neat feature.
