Guys.
Could any one who had his KK lifted tell me if he had any problem with his steering rack.

I have lifted my KK up to 6". 2 days ago I had a failure on my steering rack, the dealer is claiming it is because the high angle on the steering tie rods which is because of the lift.

Thanks alot.

Some have come close, i think 5 inches. But being up that high, especially 6 inches definatly puts stress on the steering rack. And 33" tires will also put alot of stress on it

first we need to see some pics of this beast you speak of! in all honesty though you are putting enormous amounts of strain on every component of the front end at 6" of lift, mine sits at 22.5-23" (i forget specifically) front center of wheel to bottom of fender flare and the angles arent very good to say the least. clacker has his KK lifted ~5" in the front on 255/85/16s (lil over 33) and his steering rack went out on his rig.

my steering rack also died and i only have 3.5" in front + i have blocks that lift the tierods 1.5" to keep the angle almost straight. I think the KK steering rack is just very weak :(

Apparently the 08 KKs rack is the weakest and was upgraded or beefed up for 09 and newer. Clacker had his replaced with a new model.

First off, if you really do have 6" up front, you must have a serious caster/camber issue cuz those outter CV joints will not pivot beyond 5". Also, i dont think the the UCAs will allow for that much droop, even with the pockets opened up all the way. I would suggest that you lower it a couple of inches, and wait for a trans-drop and a cradle-drop so you can actually reach 6" and not completely destroy the front end. Ive actually back mine down from the 5" point down to about 4.25". In time i more than likely will also step down a size in tire to either a shorter 33 or a 32.5
