I have been in contact with Mark at DetoursUSA.com with the possibility of making a Tailbone system similar to that of what they have made for an XJ. Detours is the company that makes the Backbone winch plate that is currently installed on the front of my KK. This would be a great alternative to those that need/want a spare tire carrier instead of an expensive and heavy rear bumper. Nothing is in work yet but he believes that it would be easier to do then making one for a KJ due to the design of the rear bumper, the KKs is more flat. If anyone has pictures of the rear bumper removed from a KK and could send them to me or post them it would help him get an idea of where the project stands. It would be even better if we could get a KK in Northeast KY for measurements and mock up. Right now hes just on the look out in junkyards. ![]() Once again NOTHING is in work or for certain yet but if we had people that would show interest or could help out with pics or access to a KK it could potentially happen. |

lol 12 hr drive just to take measurements on something that MIGHT/MIGHT NOT work is a no go for this guy. right now im wondering how to make it work and look right since the rear bumper sticks out a ways from the hatch.

Count me in as interested if this ever gets off the ground. Aren't there tire carriers for trailer hitches? I know they would probably stick out really far and may not be up to the abuse of offroading but would work. |

Dunno if you guys are still thinking about this one, but if you need measurements of the mounts under the stock bumper, MtnLvr here on this site built his own replacement bumpers mounted onto the stock mounts. So he almost certainly has a full rack of measurements and could probably assist quite a bit with some of your ideas, assuming he is willing, of course. You should PM him. |

I was rear-ended a couple of weeks ago. No major damage (just a few scrapes) per the body shop and stealer, but the insurance company is making me replace the hitch and bumper. I will see if I can get the shop to take some pics for me or let me come in and grab a few and measure it out also. I'm not planning to get it done until after the holidays though. So if you haven't found what you were looking for by then, hopefully I will be able to help out. Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk |

Just wondering if you guys had thought out a price point for something like this? I honestly have no reference from which to guess what the price might be, although I hope it would come in under a grand per unit. Once you've worked out the logistics let us have an idea on pricing. If it's reasonable I'd consider springing for one. I utterly loathe the spare tire setup on the KK. |
