Seems like every 6 months or so, I intermittently get the red Brake light showing up on the cluster, along with a single chime. A rfiend of mine opined that my brake fluid level in the reservoir was low. Turned out he was correct. Add a little fluid, problem solved for 6 months or so. I haven't climbed undeneath to see if there's any leakage somewhere, but it'd have to be one hell of a slow leak in any case. Any one else seeing this behavior? As nuisance problems go it doesn't rate much of a gripe. I'm just curious if it is common, or peculiar to my 2008 KK...

I haven't heard of any problems like this with any KK. IIRC, there was one guy with a flaky sensor, how ever that wasn't due to a fluid problem.

You may want to have your brake pads checked. Most of the time when the master cylinder is low on fluid it is due to the fact that the brake pads are worn and nearing the end of their normal service life.

indeed check your brake pads. as they wear down your fluid will go down because there is more fluid to fill the space in the calipers. money is on the rear pads are about gone. chrysler products are notorious for wearing the rear pads quick.

Also side note...

Bruid fluid suck water out fo the air and that makes it go bad.

If you can replace it once a year to keep it at it freshest...
Or atleast when ever you change pads....

Actually, my sevice manager asks me how I'm so easy on my brakes that they don't seem to be wearing out. Every time I have it in, I say, "The brakes must be getting close" but they always say no. I sure don't have any trouble stopping. I might just change them myself this spring just so I know what's really going on...

Water in the brake fluid is not much of a concern anymore since alloy masters and ABS have come around. The main concern is the internal corrosion of those ABS components(not caused by water),a copper test is needed to determine when you should change the brake fluid.

I say this as this was from a Class I took back in 1998..
So the data might be outdated at this point....

I stil say if you change brake pads changing the fluid is a good idea.
Or if it changes color to much...

but this is my thoughts.. no science...
