Post subject:  Anybody Else's Life Suck?!?!?!

So I wake up at 4:00am to go to work. Feed the dog. Walk him in the hellish blizzard we were in the middle of and start to shovel. Turn around after about 10' and see that everything I shoveld already had another inch of snow on it. End up shoveling the sidewalk/driveway 3 times before giving up (you can get a ticket here if you don't shovel the sidewalk infront of your house). And get ready for work.

It normally takes me 20 minutes to get to work. Today it took me 1 hour 15 minutes. When I get there I call my boss and ask why the parking lot wasn't plowed and why nobody else was there. The response he gives me is, "We're closed today, I told everyone yesterday before they left." I then proceed to tell him that he left work long before I ever got back to the shop and his response is "Oh." Then silence. (Disclaimer: Yesterday afternoon I looked at today's schedule which has everyone working with no mention of being closed tomorrow and this company has NEVER closed due to weather in the 10 years I've worked there.)

So then I proceed to drive home on the worst roads I have ever driven on. Most of the way I couldn't see past the hood of the Jeep. Took me 1 hour 45 minutes to get home. Then I have to shovel again (4th time).

How did the Jeep handle you ask?

AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had if 4 wheel drive on the back roads near my house and couldn't get any traction anywhere. I put it back into 2 wheel drive on the highway since if none of the wheels have traction, then whats the point so I might as well try to save some gas. I know it's not the Jeep. I still have the Wrangler ST's on it because I don't want to buy new tires until I get my lift in, which I can't get on because I don't have a garage and now there's 4' of snow everywhere. The only place I found that said they could put it in quoted me $800 and they would need the Jeep for 2 days. This was after he asked me what the hell a Clevis fork was. Absolutely notihng is going right. :banghead:

Oh, and I just got done shoveling for the 5th time. :furious: :furious: :furious:

Sorry for the long rant. I've reached my breaking point living in this awful state.

Anyone know of any companies in Georgia/South Carolina hiring?

Life can't be that bad dude....you are breathing aren't you. Got food on the table? Roof over our head? ...but I understand your frustration. Years ago I worked rotationg 12 hr night shifts, supposed to get off @ 7 am, but I had a 4 hour training that morning since i was off the night, while we were havin a super snow storm. By the time I left @ 11, there was already 4-6" on the ground. Drove in that junk home, luckily only took me hour, in bed by 12, back up @ 4 to go pick up my son. Get a call @ 6 pm from my boss...."I need you to come in, you are the only one on nights with a 4x4". Back into work now with 10-12" down and had to work that next night with no sleep.
Now about your jeep...get rid of those Crapyear ST's when you can. My wifes was all over until I bought some Cooper Discover CTS's, I hardly even use 4x4 unless it's really slick, then it still goes well.
just think though..Atlanta is under a bunch of snow, S.Ca gets bunches of ice.....and none of those states are prepared for it nor do they know how to drive....think you're frustrated now.

Yeah but in Georgia and South Carolina that snow will be gone in a week and the temp will be above freezing until the next storm. Around here that crap won't be gone until late April...if we're lucky.

My girl and I have been wanting to move down there for awhile anyway. Just hard to find a job don there in this economy. Espeically while living 1000 miles away.

Feeling better now that I was able to work out and get rid of some of the anger. I know everyone has there problems and mine aren't worse than a lot of peoples. I just had one of those days. Even my girlfriend had a bad day. She was working from home and one of the cats jumped up on the desk and knocked a full cup of coffee directly on the keyboard of here laptop...completely frying it. It was a work laptop and was a few years old but still has to explain why it's busted and why it smells like the inside of a coffee pot. :dizzy:

You don't want this snow. It is all ice now. I have 6' ice banks in my front yard. :( Not to mention the two huge (150lbs.+) tree limbs that broke off my neighbors tree and slammed the roof this morning. Hopefully no damage but I can't even check because it's so icy and windy. I guess I'll find out if it starts snowing in the house. :5SHOTS:

FDez....I think there is something from the bible that might help you:

I complained that I had the original tires on my jeep...until I met a man that had no jeep.

Or something close to that.

Cheer up, it takes days like these to make all the normal days seem ok and the good days to seem great.

To the OP, I'm right there with ya!
I live in Chicago and am sick to death of the snow and cold. I think there's a negative 20 wind chill today. It starts to get a bit chilly in October and doesn't seem to break until around May. You just don't get a whole lot of living out of life couped up in the house for months at a time. I'm ready for a change!

We got another 10-12" here today and they expecting another MAJOR nor'eater on Tuesday bringing another couple of feet. :furious: :furious: :furious: :furious:

There's a good chance I am going to wake up tomorrow, load the girlfriend, dog and cats into the car, just start driving south and leave everything else to the bank (house, belongings, etc.)

I hate snow...and pants.

just do like a guy I met down in Savannah one time, he lived in western part of Mass. somewhere, got tired of the cold and snow etc, sold almost everything they had loaded up the van and on top he tied down his snow blower.
Got comments all the way down about that snow blower on top of the van everywhere they stopped to get gas or eat. Finally he pulled in to get gas outside of Savannah, guy comes walking out and says " Whats that on your roof?" He told him it was a snow blower. Guy says" Well I'm 79 years old lived around here all my life and never saw one before"

At that moment he knew that's where he wanted to live!

Was this guy's name Odysseus?.....
Did he have to make a sacrifice to the snow god when he stopped?...
Just wondering?

FDez, I'm right with ya here living in Mass. Last storm was a battle getting to work. When I got there the first thing I did was wipeout in the parking lot and drop my coffee. You can pretty much guess how the rest of the day went.

Another 8" yesterday and I they're talking about a big storm on Wednesday. Of course that's far off so it may change by then.

Think about it though. January is almost over, Feb is a short month, and by the middle of March it will start to warm up. Spring's right around the corner.

Winter tires are you friend. I leave my OEM tires for the summer time. I'm using Firestone Winterforce and had to use my 4wd only twice this winter.

Spring's right around the corner?

I don't believe you. :ROTFL: It will be at least May before all these snow banks melt. Plus, it seems as though there is somewhat of a climate shift (NOT GLOBAL WARMING) going on and it looks as though the "winter" months are slowly being pushed back. Just my hairbrained thought. :-)r

It doesn't help matters that I work outside all day. Trying to pump water out of the ground doesn't work so well when it is below freezing. Yet my boss keeps wanting us to try. :banghead: Also working in the road on the sewers and such isn't so fun either when there is snow and ice everywhere. I've almost been run over multiple times in good weather over the years let alone in this crap. :furious:

I spent a good 5 hours last night sending out resumes to places in South Carolina and Georgia so hopefully I can get out of here soon.
