I folks

I normally keep the rear seats in the down position and have several “Rubbermaid ActionPacker” containers tied down with multiple nylon cargo straps.

These straps keep everything in place during normal driving, but they would not keep things together in the event of a minor to serious accident.

There are not many solid (metal-to-metal) tie-down points in the Liberty. My goal is to have strong load tie-down system to prevent cargo from killing me in an accident. :dead:

Can you post photos of solid tie-down ideas or custom installed tie-down points?

Thanks

You may want to get 2 ot 4 Ratching tie downs OR learn some sailing knots and get Rope.

The 2 best I've seen

on his storage system - Glend used web tiedowns to the loops in the cargo compartment.

and on ALL-J's storage shelf - has screw mounts into the side walls.

Luckily I had my All J rack which held all my tools underneath it in the cargo area keeping them from flying into me. I did have a pick, shovel, ax and saw on top of the All J rack but they were strapped down and held in place. A few items are unaccounted for and were either stolen by the tow truck company employee or lost in the trees, shrubs, mud. After walking the crash site for an hour in the rain I gave up.

Thanks for the link - The "Bowline" seems to be the best for tie down points, but the Liberty does not have many soild points for tie-down. Lots of plastic inside that would not handle any significant impact...

The front seat's mounting bolts are very strong. Maybe you could fashion some kind of hooks that are bolted in using those bolts.

Or if you want to go another way.

Drill Holes into the flow and install Lagg Bots with Eye ends.
Make your own mounting spots..

Just plan it out before you drill into the floor.
I fully agree this is not that great of an Idea.

Or install some sort of bolt in Track system...

Or have a custom made system that is large enough to fill the whole space.
I have other idea, but they all take time and money to make...

Hi Folks

Think I have a possible solution. I will need to test the system by bumping things around off road to see how secure the system is...

I working with a local company that deals to truck and trailer load securement systems and install a track system...

The "D-Ring" system will work very well with rope, the Bowline knot is easy to remove after it has been under tension...

I will keep you posted on how it works and the difficulties...

Here is an idea for noise. My buddy linned his boxes like your with rhino liner, works great. He now is making shelfs and selling his rhino lined boxes.
