I know many o' people have asked advice...and yes, I have searched the threads. I have recently traded out my 2002 Liberty for my new baby, the 2008 Liberty Limited.

I am pretty sure I want to get some blacked out rims...not sure if I enjoy the chrome that much. Anywho...I would like to do a lift and some new A/T tires, but I cant do it myself. I have no idea where to go or who can do anything for me. Can I buy the lift equipment online and find someone to do it for me? I think I only want to go 2 - 2 1/2 inches. What are your guys' recommendations? I cant wait to get this thing on the trail the RIGHT way! Nice to meet ya'all! :JEEPIN:

Herer are a couple lifts, id suggest googleing a bit and see what you can find. and troll the forums a bit. When i was new i got a bit of flack here for always asking questions before checking some back logged threads to see what others had already done. Now i find most every thing before i have to post! :SOMBRERO:

I have the 2in Daystar spacer lift..its a budget lift in that its cheap. I dont have any new shocks or any thing else like that which is a rather large no no by most members standards.

i also did not do it my self and ended up spending around $650 total between the lift cost and the price to have it installed. My suggestion would be to save the $ and get a all in one lift that has every thing.

Ive also heard rumors that going over 2in will cause a long term issue with your transmission or drive shaft or some other critical part that costs an booty ton to replace. :banghead: just food for thaught.

As for tires. Look into which lift you want FIRST then look into the tires and if they will fit with out rubbing the wheel wells once theyre on.

Good luck and welcome to the jeep world!

So I see they give recommendations on tire and wheel size on 16s but I'm running 17s now. I guess the blackouts I want are 16s anyhow. Thanks for the link though its the best one I've found so far!

Tons of info in the wheels and tires info. I have the spt trim and run the 16" stock wheels. I happen to like the style of them. If you are really itching to get it on the trails soon before a lift, I might recomend a set of skid plates for the underneath first. Then find the lift you like and finally tires that fit w/o rubbing. You can expect a drop in MPG when the mods start and we all know the KK ain't the best gas sipper out there to start with :ROTFL: I have a friend of mine who owns/operates a small local auto maintnence/repair shop do my work. He does a lot a suspension and wheel/tire work but can do about anything except fab parts. Snoop around and see what turns up in your area. Maybe there is a member or two in the Denver area that can chime in and recomend or suggest some options for installation locations. Congrats on the KK and welcome to the forum.

Hey thanks for the hospitality! I had planned on the skid plates... not too expensive of an upgrade anyhow. I think I have my mind set on a 2" small lift since its been approved by the lady of the house. Once I get that though I'm gonna be itching for some new tires!

By the way, what are all the skid plates I need? Seems like not all the websites have all of them.

Your tires will wear out eventually anyway, so why not do the lift first. Then when tire replacement time comes, get bigger and better ones. :D

I purchased my from here: http://jparts.com/index.php?cPath=23_19 ... 2dot6ghfr4

There are other sites that offer as well. These aren't the thickest plates, but then again, this is my daily driver and not a dedicated trail rig. They serve my purpose though. There is a fifth plate for the radiator I belive which I don't have. Someone else can comment on that skid. I'm kinda waiting to see how a new front bumper/skid combo from another member here on the forum pans out for me. Gotta start savin soon for that one.

There is an Old Man Emu lift spring set in the classifieds

Users with these springs said the ride was equal to if not better than factory after lifting.

It will also keep you from going through the difficulties of lifting higher than 3"

Looks like I found a great deal on the daystar 2" spacers...$135 plus 25% off installation!

If you havent installed the lift yet you might want to give this thread a read. Scroll down to SkinInc69's post. I am not trying to start a buyers remorse moment here, just inform you of what others have found with spacer lifts regarding ride quality and spring sagging.

Yeah I have read about that...I know my stock suspension is going to go eventually, but I am not going to do anything extreme anyhow. I am looking to get a little bit more clearance and some bigger tires. Thats all

OK OK...yes, you convinced me. After reading THROUGHOUT the forum, I have decided against the daystar. I am going in as soon as I can to cancel my order. If I can somehow muster up the money...I think I'm going to go with the JBA 2.5" kit. Gotta find someone to install this stuff too. After that though, somehow I AM going to get some new tires, I'm thinking the Falken Rocky Mountains....

P.S. Quick question...I hear about these A-arms. If I go with the JBA lift, will I have to get the a-arms too or can i stick with stock?

Post subject:  Re: New...advice?

i hear of people that have done both, the A Arms arent required, but while you are in there (if you can afford it) you will have the front end dis-assembled anyways so you will save on labor.

The A Arms help with A Arm and spring contact while hitting bumps going fast.

Personally...ive had my daystar lift for about 10k miles and LOVE IT! still running all the stock equipment and still no problems..not sure why others dont like it but i absolutely love the lift. I to will be changing out some equipment eventually but for now it works.
