Post subject:  For those who have the Daystar 2" lift kit...

I chose to order the Daystar kit at the recommendation of the mechanic who will be doing the installation. A question I have is, did the kit level the Jeep out or is it still lower in the front like it is from the factory? If still lower, do any of you have suggestions (boiler shims or the like) to raise the front end up a bit? I just can't stand that raked forward factory look and would prefer to have the Jeep sit level front to back.

Iirc it still sits lower in the front if you install it as daystar directs you to. What i did was take the rear lower spring isolator and mate it with the upper isolator (2 on top), then put the spacer on the bottom. Doing that and a 3/8" gap in the clevis in the front will set her level. For some reason daystar thought it would be a good idea to make the rear spacers hollow. This not good, at least in my opinion, because it can over compress the springs and possible snap brake lines. I filled in the hollow part with a couple 2 1/2" rounds of 3/4" plywood from a hole saw and rtv to seal it up. This acts as an extended bump stop.

*Note* I hate my daystar lift and cant wait to get out of it and in to an actual spring lift.

The Daystar FRONT spacer is exactly the same as the KJ 2.5" spacer.

The Daystar KK lift is actually 2.5" front, 2.0" rear. Believe me, I've had a KJ and KK with Daystars on both of them.

So it will sit lower in the rear. Some may consider this "level" but I consider it "annoying".

I too cannot wait to get a real spring lift and get the "attack dog" stance back. Yeah I know, I'm weird.

Thanks Marlon for the info. I guess to each his own, but if it makes the front even, or closer to even, with the back, that is the look I'm shooting for. At some point in the future, I'd also like to get a spring kit, but right now they're a bit out of my reach, especially since the next thing on my list is going to be skid plates and tow hooks.

Your mechanic hates you FYI if he recommends a crappy spacer lift. Expect two new struts in your future very soon as well as a sore back from the ride quality. The struts in my wife's jeep died after 36,000kms of install of the cheap spacer lift. Would have been cheaper if I bought her the RK lift first instead of the daystar them new struts from the spacers killing them in less then a year.

Well, the Daystar order was cancelled today. Now, I'll probably take some heat for this, but I instead ordered a RK 3.5 X-Factor lift. It seems, form all the searching and reading I've done, that the ride quality and other aspects of the kit put it a notch above the Daystar. Plus, I want the best chance at leveling the Jeep as I can get.

Now, in a perfect world, I'd go out and buy a JBA kit or do new coils and shocks/struts, but I just don't have that kind of money available to play with. This is my best option for now, and perhaps in a couple years I can upgrade.
