So i was looking things over today and discovered that my breather hose was disconnected at the axle. I'm thinking i should change the oil, but how worried should i be? I don't even know how long its been off. I'm def doing the extended breathers as soon as i find some 5/16" hose because there isn't much slack in the stock one after lift, and its not very high up anyway. I'm at 13,500 miles and have never been through any deep mud or water, its the dust that worries me.

If you're on a road that has dust - Jeep recommends a 12500 oil change on the axles.
- cheap - won't hurt and will let you look at oil & bearings

There's just a lot of dust in my town. Trying to figure out how much fluid i need.. Figure i'll do the front too. Maybe the t case.

80w-90 gl5 front ~1.6 quarts? (buy 2 qts)
75w-140 synth rear ~2.15 quarts? (buy 3 qts)
I realize you just fill till the bottom of the plug but want to be sure i buy enough.

Is gasket maker rtv what i should use on the rear?

(Assuming you're taking the diff cover off)

I'm pretty sure what I usually use is this stuff called "the right stuff" or something along those lines. It advertises a 1 minute gasket I think.

I'm sure some high temp RTV would do just fine as well.

I just used good ol' permatex ultra black RTV from autozone for the rear diff and it works fine...
