The front end and longer hood looks like it may actually fit. Wonder if anyone has ever tried it.

Add a 3" heavy duty spring lift, and some new shocks, etc. Give it a nice set of E-load range AT's, and let her rip. With that much weight, I woudln't doubt if the ride quality actually smooths out a bit.

What say y'all?

You will need ultra duty coils custom made for that swap. That 4BT alone weighs over twice what the 3.7 does.Something in the 600lbs to 700lbs rated coils might work.

It can be done but no electronics will work again like power windows and such unless you hard wire them. The IC cluster will also not work. You will need a different trans and t-case,and some major axle mods as the stock diffs will not live long.

Oh and not to mention it is illegal to do and you will not be able to title it or register it.By federal law to swap in a engine that engine must be the same year or newer then the vehicle it's going into.So if you have a '08 KK you must use a '08+ engine and retain all the engines(and vehicle it came out of) emission stuff. They don't make new 4BT's,they haven't for some years.

That depends on the state, Troy.

Anyone can get away with that in Michigan and nobody will know or care. Why? There are no inspections here.

No inspections in the county I live in also,no emissions either, but had a guy I know get pulled over for a error on his registration(wrong vehicle color),then they stared digging and found the engine swap that was not approved by the state or feds. He's in some hot water now and might not get back his YJ due to a '01 TBI 350 in his '94 YJ,feds are taking over his case.

Cops do random checks all the time. It's federal law, might not get caught right away but eventully you will.

Just to add I will have to get my engine swap approved before I can renew my tags, though I will be using a model year '12 engine and retaining all emssion stuff, the swap will even be CARB approved by the end of '12.
