so there is a embossed look to the rear of the jeep once you remove your emblem on the rear black deck lid.... any ideas what i can do if I want to remove it?

I was thinking painting it to correct this issue.

Which emblem are you talking about? Cargo lid or the rear gate?

Is it just adhesive? If so, they sell cleaner for it.

Rear gate

mines black finish but has the texture finish and how stupid is this it appears (mind you its dark out and only removed the "J" in jeep) and its all non textured under the words JEEP i assume for the 3M tape to adhere UGH

WTF ! :banghead:

now what ! i wanted to remove it and go retro JEEP lower left like my old XJ was GRRRR

It kinda looks cool like that. I would leave it. But then again, I'm kinda lazy. :SOMBRERO:

If it's really bothering you this much, sand it and have it painted body color.

it's a ghost shadow. The decal protects the paint from sun and nature (acid rain, dirt...etc). It will eventually fade over time. Nothing really you can do about it for now. It happens to glass also.
And don't use goo gone either. Get some window tint adhesive remover. If your removing the other lettering, heat and fishing line or dental floss. Wear gloves cause it could cut into your skin when you wrap it around your fingers, but you will be able to shave off the 3M foam tape closer to the vehicle that way and it's easier to get it off then picking it in pieces. Once you do that, saturate it with the adhesive remover and let it sit for a few and wipe it off with a towel. I did it to mine and made exact size replacement to cover up the ghost shadow. :D

That's not a ghost shadow. It really is an ungrained section of the lightbar. It gives the badge a smooth surface to stick to.
