rear speakers as in the door speakers, or the stock "sub"? splicing into the door speakers would definitely be over complicating it. Also, getting to the stock "sub" is way more complicated than splicing into the back of the head unit.

I routed my wires through the plastic kick panels near the door sills, and then up through the dash. you've got your speaker wires and an accessory wire to turn your amp on and off behind the head unit.

you can route the power cable the same way, except bypass the dash and go through the firewall to the engine compartment. there is a little "plug"/rubber grommet you can easily see looking from the engine compartment. you've got to kind of wedge yourself under the drivers side dash to see it from inside the car. i just took it out, drilled a hole through it, ran the power cable through it, and then put it back in place.

thanks for the heads up... i was gonna try from the speaker, but it makes more sense to go from the back of the head unit.. :)

the Liberty head unit is a blessing and a curse

its the easiest radio removal I have ever done. makes for easy install, but potentially easy theft.

there are some how-to's on here. just be careful taking off the radio/ac cover plate not to scratch your console. i'd lay a towel down or something. it can really be annoying removing the cig lighter and the AC control harnesses and whatnot.
