Hey,

I have a 2011 Jeep Liberty Sport that now has 3,457 miles on it but this happened around 3,000 miles. One day I was driving it and pressed down on the gas hard and what happened was that the RPM's went up but my speed stayed the same, basically as if I were in neutral or something. Any suggestions on what happened and what I can do to maybe make my Jeep a little more responsive with the gas/acceleration.

Thank you for your help in advance

If it keeps happening take it to the dealership for warranty work. It sounds like one of those things that can never be duplicated when a mechanic looks at it.

now that ive thought about it for a bit, that kind of sounds familiar

i think it may have happened to me once, i was surprised, it never happened again, and I forgot about it. i dont have much else to offer about it, but i guess just because it has not happened to me since doesnt mean it wont happen again or it isnt the result of an underlying problem...

if you had a transmission dip stick - you could check the fluid level - sounds like it's low....

does the dip stick go into the tube directly behind the oil dip stick? The tube has a cap that says "For Dealer Use Only"

I posted on this about six months ago. My wife's 11 limited could sit in the garage for a week at a time in the summer and I noticed that the engine driven fan viscous clutch would start to stick on.
You only have the engine driven fan if you have the tow package. If the clutch sticks it sounds as if the engine is revving and low on power. I had the fan clutch replaced.

also know that your truck is drive by wire and not by cord... so there is a delay of power to when it gets transferred to the wheels

I had something close on my 09. It was out in the driveway overnight. It had gotten down to around 35deg. I started it up and just for the heck, I pressed the acc pedal. Nothing. WTH? I pressed it to the floor. RPM did not budge. Did have a slight cutting out sound, like it wanted to rev but couldn't (or shouldn't). I drove it down the road and everything was fine. It was only when it was cold and sitting in the drive. Next day, I did it again. samething. So, I assumed Jeep built in some "safety" switch that thwarts morons like me from over rev'ng the engine on cold mornings. :?

There is a problem with the electronics in the pedal. Take it to the dealership and they will replace it. I had it done on mine.
