I have not see a write up yet.... If the oil pump can take it, it would be fun to do this... Maybe someone can chime in on if this is ok to do?? |

I'd like to do this also but it looks like a royal PITA to put the adapter and hoses on where the filter goes. Summit had a few of those kits on the clearance rack last week for about twenty five bucks. I'm not sure if they're the right size but it's worth looking into. Has anyone else thought about this? |

I've had plans to do this for a while. It took some time, but I tracked down the right kit for the '08 with the 3/4-16" thread http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TRD-1113/. I'm going to do it when it gets a bit warmer here though, and when I'm not so busy at work. Keep in mind though, the thread type changed to 13/16-16" on the '09 and up KKs. I figure that so long as I don't have the hoses too long, or try to relocate it up too high, I should be fine. My only hang-up right now is WHERE to put the thing that will make it easier to get to, less messy, and fit my previous criteria. |

i never have trouble getting to the filter or unscrewing it by hand, but i have yet to remove the filter without making a mess lol the mess gets a little smaller every time though |

That's why I want to move it. I had oil all over my lower control arm just waiting to drip onto my driveway. |

My goal is to mount it so I can change the oil and not get anything on my skids. I don't know how much gets on them, as they're still not installed, but I figure it would be a bit messy. |

So Phil, Q: What would be bad/could go wrong with length of hose? or height at which it is mounted? Engine bay not doable? I guess I am missing something here, be kinda nice to open the hood and change the oil filter (if possible), I know you'd still need some form of drip/catch pan/milk jug/jack daniells bottle underneath tho. |

The longer the hoses the more oil pressure you loose.Regardless your going to loose some oil pressure eitherway doing a remote filter setup unless you istall a higher flow oil pump(which does not exist for the 3.7). |

Ahhh, got it. Just gives ya a good reason to wash it after an oil change, touchless of course. |

Would the pressure drop be significant? Isn't there a cooler that mounts on the clutch fan (if equipped) and would the pressure drop be more than that? I really want to do this but not at the expense of the engine. |

I really want to do this but not at the expense of the engine. I don't know, that's why I'm still hung up on this project. I would love to have the filter in the engine bay, but I don't want the oil pump straining and starving the engine for oil simply for my convenience once every couple months. Maybe I'll install an oil pressure gauge first so I can see the difference and reversing the remote filter should be pretty easy if necessary. Time for some more research... |

There isn't a engine oil cooler option for the KK. I think I might have seen a KA with one.... Calling Dr. Scar0..... Calling Dr. Scar0 |

I have a KJ, but his should apply to any vehicle. (Oh, and I have changed the oil on a KK.) If you take a plastic bag, preferably a large Ziploc bag, and put it over the filter, and loosen the filter with the bag in place you can catch a good amount of oil. Then just close the Ziploc and you're good! |

I did a remote filter setup on my 65 valiant (318) and have had no issues. No more oil dripping on the headers when I remove the filter. I have the kit ordered for my 09 .. just have to find a spot to mount the oil filter and assess what will have to come apart to install it. Will probably wait until it's a bit warmer to tackle the actual install |

Ordered an oil pressure gauge, remote filter, and transmission temp gauge. I won't get a chance to install them for a while as work is calling me away for a bit, but when I do, I'll let everyone know the outcome! |

Is anyone still watching this thread? I was wondering if anyone has tried this. Summit Racing had a universal remote oil filter on sale last week for like $25.00 of something like that. The kit looked like it had everything in it down to the different sizes of threaded nipples for the filter. |

There is no oil cooler option for the 3.7. There is one for the 4.0 in the KA. There was one person who installed a remote filter setup in a 3.7 KA. He used a Trans Dapt #1113 from Summit Racing. If this link is not allowed, please remove it. See post 7 as he moved it from the original install location. |
