I've been looking around at gear ratio options after I've slapped on some larger meats and a lift on my KK. Almost everyone from Lost has told me that its advised to regear after the upgrade. So, what do I need to start that project? I was looking on JBA and all I found was this...

http://jeepinbyal.com/prod-Motive_Gear_Ring___Pinion-131.aspx

Now after doing some quick searching I found a thread about stock gearing
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=64248&p=709208&hilit=4.10+gear+ratio#p709208

Within that thread tjkj2002 says that the front diff is the same off the Wrangler JK and can be upgraded to 5.13's.
Quote:
If you have the auto trans you have 3.73's,only the 6 speed manual KK's('08 only) have 3.21 gears.

With the KK having the D30M front diff which uses the same gears as the JK's D30 you can regear as low as 5.13's but the rear 8.25 is limited to 4.88's(major mods required for those) but 4.56's are really the lowest gears without major mods like grinding gear teeth.

So my question is, and not to be too remedial,
    1. I'm guessing your front and rear diff gear ratio's need to be the same? (Are they currently both 3.73?)
    2. What do I need to upgrade to 4.10's (IE bigger gears obviously lol)

To answer you:

1. Yes, the front and rear have to match

2. Your looking at R&P's for both axles plus master rebuild kits

I don't know what your future plans are for the jeep, but if you want to install a locker, wait to have the gears done and do it all at once. Labor is going to run you $500 to $1000ish.

That's a good point, I'll definitely wait until I install a locker. Um, ik this sounds stupid but what is a master rebuild kit? :dizzy:
