Rear Window Defroster

I noticed this morning that the middle strip of my rear window defroster has stopped working. It's not a huge deal, but it's a little annoying to look in the rearview and see a stripe across the middle of the window. I took a look at the grid and it all looks perfectly fine. No obvious scratches, the tab is still attached, nothing at all that I could see. Any thoughts? It's just that middle strip that won't work.

And I took a very close look, there are no scratches or breaks. That was my first thought.
