So guys what's up Been having really crappy mpgs on my kk Lifted 2.5" running 245 75 16 falken mountain tires I'm thinking it's the tires? They are pretty heavy so I'm assuming this is the issue thoughts? I'd like to get new tires I'm thinking 255 265 / 75 / 16 in mtrs or bf Goodrich Thoughts all around fellas? How bad are we talking about? 1-2 mpg after the new tires? More? Bigger tires will definitely decrease mpgs, but that size difference(you went from 29" to 30.5") should not make it drop all that much. And if the difference is the tires, I would bet mtrs or bfg mt would bring it down even further. Both of those are pretty beefy. Especially with that size difference. 255/75/16=31" 265/75/16=31.5" Side note though, with the options you seem to be looking at, have you taken a gander at the Duratrac's? I love mine. |

Bigger and heavier tires have a big effect on mpgs. Going with even bigger and heavier tires will make it even worse. Not to mention the amount of cutting to get the 265/75/16 to fit with a 2.5" lift. I have those tires and 4" and still get slight rub with better rims. |

These falkens are STUPID heavy guys! Im ready to pull the trigger on new tires and just keep trying to dump these... thoughts on new wheels with a higher backspace get some more width to them and add a 265 70 16? |

Why ask for advise to simply ignore it? If you're worried about mpg then you probably should get a prius and call it done. But seriously bigger tires arent going to help at all even if thd falcons are stupid heavy mtrs are also. You could go samller o n rims so its more rubber less steel to try and save on a tad bit of wieght... But other than that all you can really do is get smaller tires or regear.

How bad are you talking? And what PSI are you running? Granted I'm geared, but I'm still pulling 16's mixed driving if I keep it at 75 ish. If I bump to 80, I drop to 14.5. I'm at 50 PSI on mine. |

11 is pretty bad. Bad enough I would look for other problem than just bigger tires. And I would definately get it fixed before going even larger. |

I hope that's city driving. And at that point, it could be your driving style. Are you heavy on the gas? I know I am, and stock I'm getting ~13 city. |

You just keep going wider and wider with the tires. A tire's width also has a lot to do with fuel economy. You want some of your gas mileage back? Go back to the stock size. |

Ummm a 245 55 16 is a 26" tire. If that's stock size then going to a 255 75 16 (about 31") that is a huge difference. |

Stock is 225 75 16. Atleast on my KK it was. And is that 14mpg all highway? Btw I like the look of the red lights on your speedo and tach compared to the green... |

Have you considered running a pair of road tires and a pair of off-road tires? Just swap them out before you head out on trail. I've been thinking about doing it. I think Digger does it too. Should improve the mileage a bit |

11 is not completely unreasonable if you are only driving stop 'n go city, especially if you have a bit of a lead foot. the highway is the only thing that keeps my mpg's up. when i was doing half and half i was getting like 14.5. now i do a lot more highway and im getting 16 or a little more |

No Liberty ever came with 225/55R16s. Your stock size was 235/70R16. The smallest tire that any Liberty, KJ or KK came with was 215/75R16. Now if you want some gas mileage, grab that size. I used to get mid 20s with those stock on my KJ, then as soon as I put 245/70R16s on it, is when the MPGs decided to drop... best I could do was 22MPG. |

I think the worst I ever saw was about 11.x mpg. It was closer to 12 though. It was all stop and go driving over my winter break, and I had a heavy foot. When I made my trip upstate hunting I got 17.6(I believe, it was almost 18) mpg with cruise set for 80mph and sitting at a dead stop for 2 hours on the Cross Bronx. I was averaging about 17 I believe during school. And that is 98% highway, little to no traffic, and cruising anywhere from 70-80mph. |
