service 4wd lite

I have been using 4 lo occasionly when coming out of a boat ramp, and sometimes its not going in, other times it takes a while to get out of 4 lo. Last wknd it would not go in at all and the service 4wd light came on until several key starts.
Anyone experience this or know what may be the problem?

Can you hear the shift motor when you select 4wd/4low? Have you changed the t-case atf fluid ever? Grinding noise?

No grinding or noise of any kind. The tranny fluid was changed but not the diff or transfer case, so yeah I quess they should be done.

If you don't hear that motor engage then it wont shift the t case. Not saying its the motor itself, could be something in the electronics too.
Your jeep has been in service for almost half a decade now, maybe getting those fluids changed is a good idea :wink:

Got the fluids changed but it was actually the switch, too much coffee spilled,lol.
